“Place to be in central Yangon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2012

Traders is the #1 hotel in the city center of Yangon. I stayed at Park Royal hotel, which is also very good, when cyclone Nargis hit in 2008. Park Royal and Traders had generators. However, Traders was also able to maintain the restaurant with good food. So, my next trip to Yangon I stayed at Traders. Very nice hotel. Service is getting better each trip. If you have budget, upgrading to club room is a little better. If you need to be in the city center, then Traders is the place to be. Sedona and Traders are the best hotels I have stayed at in Yangon.

Room Tip: club rooms are best

Booked because it was the night of the election & East was full, and it was worn, a little grubby but OK for a night.
When we checked in I asked about airline points the counter clerk picked up my Expedia booking confirmation & said "madam, we don't give points for internet bookings - they're already far too cheap" ..
Room was standard major hotel but very worn - and yes this is Burma, but many hotels have managed to update.
We had an early flight so asked about breakfast at 6.00 when the restaurant opened and were told no problem but arrived at 6.00 to find staff just arriving & starting to set up, so even getting coffee was a challenge.
Not a great experience, but Ok for a night if everywhere else is full

Room Tip: Paying full rate on a Traders floor room might help

We stayed in room 2110 in February with a magnificent view of the Shwedagon Paya. It is across from Scotts market so very easy for shopping ventures. The room was very clean, the location quiet, the bed extremely comfortable with abundant soft pillows and comforter. They seem to have an attention to detail that other hotels did not have. We had access to the club room on that 21st floor for complementary check in, appetizers and wine at sunset. The service was outstanding and very friendly. Likewise at breakfast they provided a wonderful breakfast buffet on the same floor. Would stay again and ask for the same room. The photo was taken with a professional zoom lens..but even without it the view is great. The room is just a few dollars more that the other rooms and very well worth this incredible view. Do request it.

Room Tip: Room 2110 for a fantastic view of the pagoda. Quiet. Check in on the 21st floor with complimentary c...

The place to be: trendy atmosphere at lobby where business men and journalists meet after work.
Very well located (more central than The Strands for instance).
Also: Maybe the fastest Wifi of all Myanmar ;)

An oasis in chaotic city. The service staff goes out of their way to help you. Take advantage of the excellent massage services that are well priced. Our room was noisy the first night so they upgraded us to a quieter nicer room.

Room Tip: Be sure to book ahead through the Internet. Hotel prices are almost double the Internet rate.
