“Big Chain hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2012

This hotel is a chain hotel with good sized rooms, very large beds and a good sized bathroom. It has an excellent swimming pool and large restaurant plus two specialist restaurants. It is not however in a central location and it would be difficult to walk to another bar or restaurant. Obviously you can catch a cab. we went to the basement bar on the Friday night and there were some ladies of the night there and lots of business men. But the Philippine band that played that night were absolutely excellent and obviously bought in a lot of local people.

Overall a good stay.

Dear PatriciaFrittenden

We thank you for your positive review.

The hotel is a short drive from Shwedagon Pagoda, and the main business and shopping districts. While Du Fu Chinese Restaurant and Orzo Italian Restaurant remain favourites of guests and non-guests alike, many also enjoy having a drink at Paddy O’Malley’s, and listening to the ‘’live’’ music our band plays.

Thank you for staying with Sedona Hotel Yangon and we hope to welcome you back on your next trip here.

Best Regards

Family and I stayed in Sedona Hotel - Balcony Suite Rooms - one with swimming pool view , the other is lake view.

Pros
Room - Clean, spacious. Room has a fresh fruit platter and rose bouquets! Daily complementary mineral water.
Housekeeping - Clean and good service. Friendly staff.
Breakfast - Good choice and generally good. Recommend sit near the glass ceiling area, sunny yet comfortable.
Bathroom - spacious, complimentary toiletries which includes bath salts!
The hotel met our expectations.

Cons
The hotel is a bit dated, otherwise fine.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with lake view Higher floor better view

I am in the middle of spending 3 weeks at the Sedona Hotel. I have been very happy with it. The staff are very friendly and will do anything to make your stay more comfortable. The buffet breakfasts and lunches are very good - I think the standard is high given they are catering for a wide variety of guests from multiple countries. I am particularly impressed with the Chinese Restaurant - probably some of the best Chinese food I have ever eaten. Bring your own laptop and DVD's as the TV choice is not that good. Wi-Fi is free and there is also a business center. Each room is air conditioned (I had a problem with my air con and they happily moved me to another room). The hotel is across the road from Inya Lake (lovely to go for an evening walk). There is also a very good fitness center and swimming pools. The hotel is located about half way between the airport and downtown area..

The Sedona Hotel was selected by my Yangon office. The staff are so warm and welcoming. They are not always up to international standards, but make up for it with their genuine interest in helping with whatever you need. Restaurants and breakfast was good. The rooms are fine, have a nice view, good AC and are quiet. There are more hotel options more centrally located, but nothing is very far away in Yangon - but the city is changing fast. Free WiFi, but good luck getting a reliable connection, especially if you need to log onto a VPN.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the pool.

If you need to be not far from Yangon airport, is a good place to stay. Other than that there are much better hotels for that price. I only stayed one night and did not try the breakfast. The swimming pool is very nice if you are not visiting during rainy season.

We spent one night at the end of our tour in Myanmar. It’s a very big Hotel where usually go organized tour. The room is big and on the average, a big reception and the breakfast is like every big Hotel of 4stars. There is also a pool where you can relax. Just in front of the Hotel there is a park but it’s a pity because it isn’t well kept. However just before leaving you can have a walk. We have dinner in the Centre arriving and returning back by taxi (they aren’t expensive)

Dear albrizio

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us on Trip Advisor.

As the park opposite the hotel is a public one, not belonging to Sedona Hotels, its upkeep cannot be determined by the management.

We are happy you enjoyed your stay with us and hope to see you again soon at Sedona Hotel Yangon.

I attended a conference that was held in the hotel in one of the conference rooms. I was informed before arriving that the hotel did not take credit cards and to ensure enough cash was brought along to cover the bill. When I actually arrived, they had no problem taking a credit card but wanted it at the beginning of the stay as it takes a few days for them to obtain clearance. The hotel is clean, the rooms are nice and the breakfast had many different options. There are also restaurants in the hotel and the lobby bar has nice piano music of an evening. There is an Irish bar downstairs which offers a live band and dancing. I was actually entertained by noting that the dancers can be seen from the room by tuning into one of the television channels that show the band and the guests on the dance floor. The only negative thing I had happen was that there were a lot of problems with the internet and I had to obtain three separate passwords from the front desk in a five day period as the password kept kicking out. I had a lakeside room with a nice view. Overall I would recommend this hotel and would stay again.

Room Tip: I had no problem with the room I had and I stayed on the fifth floor.
