“Not Shwedagon but still very interesting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012

This is one of the tourist places to visit - well worth it. Our guide was very informative and we were here for a decent time drinking in the atmosphere.

“Get the chance to see Buddha's hair relic”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2012

Botatoung Paya is best reached by taxi, and the entrance fee for foreigners is US$3 per person. This is much smaller than Shwedagon Paya but in this, you have an opportunity to walk inside the stupa, and gaze or venerate at an ivory framed Buddha's hair relic. There is a tortoise and catfish pond, and a bronze Buddha further in the grounds of the temple. Lots of drinking water available for the thirsty traveller. The adjoining market and riverfront is worth a walk.

It is fascinating to walk through the Pagoda, there are various Buddhist relics to be seen. Also nearby a pond with many terrapin turtles.

“Pleasant Pagoda near river front”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2012

All gold & shinny & houses a relic of Buddha's hair. The workmanship on this Pagoda is thrilling & intricate & gleams! Well worth the visit, take an umbrella for the sun it is hot! Pleasantly all the pagodas supply pure drinking water for the visitors.

“Nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2012

Home to the Buddha hair relic, which is one of the few that is open to non-Buddhists to see. The building itself is impressive: star-shaped and covered in gold plate. Interesting place for watching people come with their offerings or watch monks meditate.
