“Tired hotel in need of a make-over”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

This hotel is very institutionalised. They simply follow an old process and there's little effort to keep it vital. The rooms are quite good. The floor lift lobbies are dirty and neglected on many floors. Definite lack of management attention. The twin lift can be problematic with delays in service. The 14th floor restaurant has a great view of the city scape; breakfast here is adequate but cutlery cleanliness should be checked as often the cutlery is dirty.

The hotel is in a very good location with many places being in an easy walking distance. WiFi in rooms can be hit and miss.

This hotel is perfectly placed for a visit to Yangong and not far from the railway station. A mid class tourist/business hotel it is perfectly acceptable for its class. Staff very friendly but the decor is a little dated and tired. Yangong is still developing in terms of its tourism product so there is not much in the way of competition so hotel prices are quite expensive as demand outstrips supply at busy times. It does have a roof top restaurant but they really are not making the best of this space as it has a brilliant view from the 14th floor of the Shwedagon Pagoda

This hotel served us well for two nights. Large clean room and bathroom with a good shower (no bath). Pleasant reception area and great views from the rooftop restaurant which also has an outside terrace. You can buy cold drinks from staff who unlock the fridge and then take them out on the terrace and enjoy the view over Yangon. Good lifts as well.

We stayed two times within a week.
Definition of star rating remain unknown to me perhaps locally different to China .
The breakfast at 14F :
Variation of hot items during breakfast time are limited .
Bathroom :
Shower pipe are extremely short and leaked the water to the floor.
Generally it is not a recommended Hotel from my point of view.

We stayed here for one night prior to joining a tour. The staff were friendly and welcoming and all spoke English. The concierge was particularly helpful as he escorted us to our room. The room was a good size and included easy chairs and a coffee table. There was tea/coffee making facilities in the room as well as free wifi. It was clean and smart. As with so many hotels we found the lighting dismal in the evening. Breakfast was not now served in the rooftop restaurant as mentioned in other reviews bit on the 2nd floor, a pity. Breakfast was adequate there was a choice for western taste-cereal, fruit juice, fresh fruit, sausage, tomato, beans, sautéed potato, toast and coffee. Pity the toaster didn't work even after the staff had fiddled with the connections! We changed some dollars here with the same rate as elsewhere, the cashier was very careful to count it out for us after showing us the value of each note. Full marks for her effort and care. The hotel is centrally situated, we walked from the hotel around the old colonial quarter and down to the river, although there was little access to the river. We would recommend this hotel to others.

The place is clean and basic, true, but it's clean, the staff is very friendly and nice, it's good located, close to everything and a supermarket is just 2 minutes walk from the Hotel.
So that's true that maybe in some other SE Asian capitals you would pay less for same quality but all the accommodations in Yangon are overpriced, it's a known fact- but here you get a good quality compare to other places in terms of prices/quality.
They have very nice breakfast on the top floor of the hotel, it's rich and tasty. The wifi works good on all the floors and there is a bath in the room :)
Even though I usually travel on a budget and prices is not super cheap, I will stay at this place again on my next visit.

Hotels in Yangon can be pricey and extremely out of value for what you pay. This is actually a fairly well priced hotel, with descent service, location and quality of rooms. Still a little under what I would want to pay for Yangon, but not as over priced as some other locations I have stayed. Again - best part of this hotel is the location. Very friendly staff as well.
