If you stay in Kinshasa or visit often, you have already visited Al'Dar or at least heard about it. This is the most affordable, hygienic, centrally located Lebanese restaurant that is filled up with anyone and everyone from a 14 year old school student to a fully dressed up UN personnel or even a diplomat !
Kinshasa can be a nightmare for people on a tight budget or even the ones with the money but not the will to pay $30 for a pizza at a half decent restaurant - You can leave satiated after a wholesome delicious meal for about $10 or less. BEAT THAT !
No Alcoholic drinks are served and don't expect anything fancy at the place, its pretty basic and most people drop by for a quick meal and not for a romantic evening.
Their Beef/Viande Schawarma is the hot seller and the Falafel sandwich at $4 is definitely a life saver for vegetarians.
Parking can be a bit tricky and the staff has predominantly french attitude , that is: Don't care much about service or smiling or paying attention. They would just carelessly wander about delivering stuff to your table and half heartedly asking you for drinks and stuff.
This is quite in contrast to the guys who own/run the place ( Lebanese) - They are ON THEIR TOES all day and are always prompt with taking orders and billing.
They have security at the entrance and being on the main boulevard and frequented by one & all - this place hasn't had any security issues.
When in Kinshasa, I visit Al'Dar at least once a day and between La Piscine ( across the road) and this restaurant - I stay well fed in this city.
