“Perfect in every way”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2009

We have just returned from a family + extended family holiday & we could not fault Lagoon Beach Resort Apartments in any way. We had 2 townhouses as there was my husband & I & and our 2 children, 3 yo & 5 months + my cousin and my parents. We were located next door to each other in houses 1 & 2 facing the lagoon beach.
Both townhouses were very well equipped as was the rest of the townhouse. Nothing was ever too much for anyone on the resort. Whether you needed your apartment serviced every day or your towels changed, a beer to be bought to you on the beach or even to have my daughters hair braided, it was always with a smile and a relaxed atmosphere.
On our last night we went to dinner at a restaurant down the road and we had planned to walk but it was raining so we called George and out he came to drop us off and then picked us up and took us home & always with a smile.
ALL of the staff were wonderful, friendly and just THE nicest people. We were blown away by the free kindy that Chris runs for the children that cannot afford to go to school. We are making up a bundle of stuff to send for the children, clothes, books, educational toys, puzzles, anything that they can make use of.
We spent most of our time at the resort, whether by the pool or lazing on the beach, as it was a great place for all of us to be. My daughter LOVED the playground and played with the other kids. The adults just enjoyed lazing about and having a drink and enjoying the serenity & tranquillity. The resort was full but we felt like we were nearly the only people there.
The town of Port Villa is a 5 minute drive by bus or taxi & we either called Wes or George or just wandered out to the road and in seconds were offered a ride by a passing bus or taxi. We enjoyed the fact that we were a bit further out of town and getting to town is cheap so you still had the peace & quiet as well as being close to the main town if you wanted.
Vanuatu in itself is not a cheap place as you would find in say Thailand but Lagoon Beach was very reasonable and we knew that what we spent there went back to the people that worked there and helped them have a better life.
The resort itself didnt have all the trappings of para sailing, day spa, swim up bar etc but if you want to do that then they are just a stones through away and you can still come back to your quiet peace of island paradise.
I would go back in the blink of an eye as we had a wonderful holiday within the resort and also around the island itself.
Tank you Tumas cannot say enough!

We stayed at the very first waterfront 2bedroom. It was better than we had hoped. Myself, husban, mother in law, 2yr old & 1 yr old. I requested security gates for the stairs before we paid so that was a big help as the stairs were an issue. They also supplied prams and highchairs and port a cots free. the grounds were perfect for kids and you felt like you had the whole place to yourself. When you did run into another guest you enjoyed the chat.

They had just finished building these two private studio apartments on the beach and if I were wanting a romantic place to stay with ni kids it would have been perfect. you will not even see other people unless you wanted to. private sand. very nice.

We had no bath in our 2br apartment and even a plastic childrens bath may have helped. The only other thing was the fact that there was no full length mirror. just one mirror in the bathroom but not full length. These are the ONLY two things I could complain about the accomodation. Besides the overcharged taxi service. We used their driver at first but soon discovered that taxis and busses go past every 30seconds and they all negotiate price so don't just pay what they ask for.

The accomodation inside was wonderful. Everything you could want. Even two TV's with DVD players (no stereo but you could use the DVD player). Very comfortable, very clean, perfect spot overlooking the water. Kayaks to use for free. snorkelling gear for free. Nice restaurant if you wanted to stay in - good food - but it was always empty. so relaxing. close to perfect!

My parents stayed at lagoon resort and we swam in their pool twice. Once in their pool you really didn't want to leave their resort and my parents actually complained that they wasted too much time having drinks at the resort bar and didn't do much else. It's a long walk to the pool from your room at lagoon resort so not really suitable for kids if you have to carry them and their towels etc. They did have a large restaurant. You can use all these facilities at any time so you don't have to stay there.

At lagoon beach you could cook your own breakfast before heading out. You could enjoy the grounds - especially if you have kids as there is a playground and trampoline and star fish to pick up. Nobody really swam in the ocean as the pools were so nice. We drove around the island but that was a waste of hire car as there is nothing but dirt road. A few pretty spots at the beginning but you're probably better off with a tour as hire car is more expensive.

We really tormented over where to stay and are so glad we stayed at lagoon beach. we tried alot of restaurants but the food wasn't that impressive any where and it was all expensive so I have nothing to recommend. We had to catch a bus/taxi everywhere we wanted to go (except when we had the hire car) but this was always fun in itself. If you stayed right in town you would have more to do quickly but I don't think it would be as relaxing. I highly recommend this resort if you have kids, want a kitchen, want beautiful views and are OK with stairs up to the bedroom.

The service at Lagoon Beach is second to none. The people were extrememly friendly, helpful and bent over backwards to make our stay enjoyable. They even delivered our alcohol to another resort when we were drinking with some friends after a wedding. We ran out of coke on our first night to mix drinks with and Chris the security guy woke Alice who worked the bar and she got us some coke (this was after midnight) with a smile. Nothing was too much trouble for them.

The rooms were excellent. We could cook at home or eat in the restaurant or dine out. The king size bed was the most comfortable bed I have slept in for ages. We left the doors to the balcony open and had the fan going on most nights and it was just divine. The decor was exceptional and the bathroom was equipped with a washing machine and seperate dryer. The lounge folded out to a bed as well which is handy if you have extra guests. We spent most of our time on the front verandah playing games, having a wine or just relaxing. We could see the water from our front verandah. It was a full house but you would hardly notice it at the resort as there are only 4 apartments in each block and nobody seemed to bother anyone else.

This resort is located out of the main town centre which is a good thing. Buses run past frequently in front of the resort for 150 vatu per person and you get into town in about 5 minutes. We didn't have to wait for any longer than 5 minutes each time we caught the bus. The grounds are fantastic, the pool is located near the bar and restaurant and this is a great area for socialising. The lagoon is very close to the apartments and there are free canoes, fishing rods and snorkels for your use. The fishing there is great and the staff really appreciate whatever you catch.

Overall we would highly recommend Lagoon Beach Resort for their friendliness, cleanliness, service and the overall relaxing experience that Management and Staff at the resort extended to us. In particular we would like to thank Kris & George (resort owners), Alice, Muck, Kevin, Morrison and Chef from the Bar and Restaurant, Kris from security, Wesley who was our driver from the airport and on some of the tours we went on, Richard, Carl, Eddie and Dave who were extending the kinder gym at the resort, for the time and effort they put in to making our stay the best. I hope I haven't forgotten anyone but all the staff were fabulous and we couldn't have asked for a better resort. We did visit a few of the other resorts and they just didn't have the personal touch that this one did. If you're looking for the upmarket resort with live music, swim up pools and fancy bars then this is not for you. I would recommend this resort to anyone who is looking to relax and enjoy the lifestyle of Vanuatu with staff who are allowed to go the extra mile to help you enjoy your stay. Once again thank you to Kris, George and all the staff - we will be back so be prepared! Anybody who is interested in staying at this resort is free to contact me to find out more. I would happily recommend this to anyone.

We stayed at the “Lagoon Beach Resort Apartments” in May 2009 for 8 nights and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.

We chose to stay at Lagoon Beach based on the reviews we found on this website and we are glad that we did.

Words can not describe how much we enjoyed staying here. It was like heaven on earth but even better.

We were collected from the airport by Wesley who delivered us and our luggage directly to our Waterfront Villa. We were greeted a short time later by Kup with a welcome cool drink of lovely fruit punch which set the mood for our wonderful relaxing holiday.

Our waterfront villa was absolutely beautiful with breathtaking views of the lagoon from just about every aspect of the villa. You could lay in bed and just watch the fish jumping out of the water – the sea life was that abundant.

The villa has its own private beach for lazing about on and swimming in the lagoon. There are literally thousands of starfish that call the lagoon home – but don’t be put off by these creatures – as they are harmless – just wear your reef shoes whilst swimming / paddling and enjoy the experience of sharing their home.

Whilst our villa was fully self contained – we chose to eat mostly at the resort – as who really wants to cook when on holidays. We found all the meals to be very good in quality and value for money. A huge thank-you to Aunty Alice, Kup & Mark (and all the other restaurant staff) for looking after us so well and making our daily dining experiences a highlight.

The resort is covered with manicured gardens and lawns which are looked after daily by a team of dedicated and happy gardeners – all too willing to say “hello” at every opportunity which just adds to the experience.

Another special “Thank You” goes to Kathy and Alice for being our witnesses to the renewal of our wedding vows. The romantic ceremony was held on the beach at sunset by Pastor Gideon and was the highlight of our stay was everything that we had imagined it would be. Also "thank you" to George for being the official photographer of this wonderful event……if you get sick of driving the bus – you could get a job as a wedding photographer……your photos were amazing.

And finally, "thank you" to Cris for letting us share your little piece of paradise. Your resort is a truly amazing place to stay and you definitely feel like you have been staying with family rather than in a resort.

Cris - What you are doing for the local children with your Kindergarten is just a wonderful gift to the local community who otherwise couldn’t afford to go to school. If you are planning to stay here and are able to assist Cris with any school supplies, it would be greatly appreciated by the “Coconut Kids”.

We would highly recommend staying at Lagoon Beach Resort for couples and families and we are looking forward to coming back as soon as possible. We have formed some wonderful friendships from our stay here and the highest rating of “5” does not even come close to high enough.

We stayed at Lagoon beach Apartments for the first half of our trip in Port Vila, we spent the other half at Le Lagon Beach Resort (refer to my review on that resort in trip Advisor).
First of all the ppl at Lagoon Beach are fantastic, all very very friendly and accommodate to whatever u need. Rebecca & Kevin at the front desk are very helpful (they will charge all your items in Aussie dollars to avoid the hefty Vanuatu Credit Card charges). The bar staff are also excellent. Morrison and Alice at the bar are absolutely fantastic, and will make any drink or food for you upon request, that includes a steak sandwich for breakfast! I have to recommend the chicken Island curry at the bar, it is soooo delicious (so is the freshly squeezed lime juice)!! The prices for food are quite reasonable compared to Vanuatu tourist prices on the street.
We stayed in one of the back of the lagoon edge apartments, sleeps 2. This is great for honeymooners and ppl on romantic getaways, u get your own little private beach, with deck chairs and outdoor shower. You get a deck over the lagoon, where u can spend the day just watching all the sea life in the lagoon. Room service can also be ordered to your private deck and you can enjoy eating with the ocean right next to u. Unfortunately the lagoon was full of these nasty looking star fish with spikes, we weren't too sure if u could swim with them in there, but we did wade around in the water and moving the star fish when needed. The resort also has kayaks that can be used by the guests, a volleyball area, a pool table, a fusbal & table tennis table and a nice swimming pool near the bar. Your meals can be eaten at the outdoor dining area, by the pool, by the lagoon, or as mentioned, in your room. The resort also has a kids club that can keep them entertained.
Shops wise, there is not much around this area. There is a little general store about 2 doors down, but for anything more, it is a bus drive into town. Buses can be caught right outside the resort for about 100 Vatu per person each way, or go through the hotel driver (George) who will charge 300 Vatu per person each way. The buses are cheaper, but may take you around the island before u get to town, whereas George will take u direct, and can be arranged for pick ups, and cost can be charged to your room. The bus ride to town is about a 5 minute drive, unfortunately a little too far to walk.
The hotel offers you free airport transfers, and in our case, transferred us to the next hotel free of charge, also honeymooning couples get a free bottle of bubbly upon arrival, along with a welcome drink.
For tours we did the Buggy Fun, which was spectacular, visited the Ekasup cultural village (day trip and night Melanesian buffet), also excellent (arrange this tour with Morrison at the bar - as he is actually from this village and u get it a bit cheaper than the hotel!). We went on an around the island tour with Atmosphere tours, our guide Gilbert was fantastic and took us to places most tour companies stopped from the outside. It is best to contact Atmosphere direct rather than through hotel, most hotels do not know of the company. Gilbert also can tailor the tour to your needs, so ask him what u wanna do and he will accommodate - i recommend Turtle Bay and the Blue Lagoon - make sure you bring swim gear, as this lagoon is stunning!!! If booking tours best to ask around in Port Vila or with some of the resorts Ni-Vanuatu ppl, they can often book it for u cheaper.
Another tip is, when in Port Vila, if you head to an empty area on the ocean side of the main road (right hand side of the Sebel hotel) you will find a little shelter where alot of Ni-Vanuatu ppl are waiting for a boat to take them across to there home islands, ask the ferry man to give you a ride around, and for a very small fee, he will take you around on the boat giving you a mini tour, you also get to visit some of the islands were the locals live, a great experience!
Overall, Lagoon Beach was a nice place, but, although, Le Lagon was a lot cheesier and full on, we preferred it. The number of activities and options were just better, although it was more expensive. But for a Lagoon side private apartment at approx. $295 AUD a night, this place is certainly a Vanuatu bargain.

We stayed in the Waterview villa for our honeymoon and would recommend this to other couples. The friendly staff at this resort are wonderful and will go out of their way to help you. Our luggage was lost by the airline and the resort were fabulous and phoned all over Vanuatu, Sydney and Brisbane to track down our luggage! The villa is quiet and peaceful and wonderful place to catch up on sleep. Also great place to relax and you can see fish and starfish from the deck. The villa has a spa bath, washing machine, huge walk in shower and full kitchen which were fab. There is a lovely french restaurant 5 minutes down the road. We went to Le Lagon Resort for the day and we were glad to get back to Lagoon Beach. Hope you have a fab time here too!

I highly recommend staying at this resort if you are a fmaily looking for the following - children sleeping in a separate room from their parents, access to a complete kitchen and laundry facilities and Kids Club (including babysitting). The two storey apartments were roomy for us - we are a family of five (10yo; 5yo & 4yo). The small and contained grounds have a terrific playground, nice pool (although small but is to be upgraded soon) and small baech on the lagoon were great. The staff are wonderful - our younger kids got to do kinder with the local kids in the morning from 8.30am to 11.30am which they loved - Annie and Yolanda were terrific. The Kids Club had some great excursions (at a cost) and parents are allowed to go along (highly recommend the turtle feeding and snorkelling with glass bottom boat).

The babysitting was cheap at 300VT per hour - we did it every night - but be prepared for them to not be right on time (I would also confirm later in the afternoon who has been booked).

Breakfast and lunch you can self cater (which saves you $$$) as there are many supermarkets in Port Vila.

Things I wished I'd taken - kids' dvd as there are two players in the apartment.
