I don't know what people are on about giving this resort anything less than 5 stars...
I really cant see what MORE people could possibly want besides whining about things like a waterfall not running..why mention these things if its not a big deal to them? or complaining about a tiny breakfast... again... sorry the breakfasts aren't "tiny" the only time people seem to have problems is when they sit there and whine about them to the poor thing they have to travel with and not bother alerting their concerns to anyone else until they rush home and complain here...
How about .. if you have a "niggling" problem, ask management... Jenny is a lovely friendly person.. If you have a problem with the current in the lagoon or how the light shines on the water... or something equally as twisted..., possibly make a call to mother nature and tell her about it...because seriously... it doesn't belong here..
First of all, to address this "busy road" thing... I'm sorry but I stayed there 5 days and not ONCE was I "disturbed" by any traffic noise. Yes it is on a road.... it is a resort... you have to get there , thus a road and no.. not a busy one.
Now, with that said.. we stayed in the Honeymoon suite, that's an extra $100 or more than what most of the people paid who have commented here that stayed in normal rooms... and I have seen the other bungalows inside and both are equally up to date, maintained and immaculate...
The entire resort is CLEAN, the housecleaning is freaking impeccable. They even were so adorable to fold my dress and place my shoes on the shoe rack. They were faultless. I would like to steal their cleaners actually... it was THE best I have had.
We were greeted by Annie. Yes, I had read all about Annie and how everyone loves her. I mentioned to her how she was spoken of a lot on trip advisor. At first typical sceptic me thought these were a bunch of needy holidaymakers needing a hug. Well by the time I left I had to use the breakfast serviette to wipe tears saying goodbye to Annie. Because truly... I think Annie really encapsulated what the Vanuatu experience is all about. You are in a place so beautifully kind, selfless and caring and the people reflect this, Annie was one of those people. The kind of people you want to take a bit back home of, their energy , their positive nature to try and come back to Australia and deal with whiny people like some of the ones [-] and moaning on here about the size of their breadstick.
The view from these bungalows are magical and no... not ONE mosquito.. not one. The gardens were beautiful, the pool magnificent, the restaurant was such a beautiful layout and the indoor reception chill out area was really lovely. Not to mention a few rounds of pool upstairs to end off a night of tuskers.
I have to mention how much we loved Fred the Barman. You will love him to... hell, everyone does! He is wonderful and if you are after a Kava experience, fred is a great guide for this.
The food was wonderful, the coffee wonderful, no children there- wonderful!
I spent MONTHS and months picking a place to stay and I am really glad I picked sunset bungalows...
Its absolutely no time into town... there's a corner store in walking distance too if you're after something small /ice cream etc...
Side note I HIGHLY recommend congoola cruise! amazing snorkelling!, amazing lunch. I recommend dinner at FLAMING BULL in the main street or Olympic burger (BEST MILKSHAKES EVER) and dont bother with hideaway island... what a waste of money for a drive out there and a substandard reef.
Do NOT bother getting private taxis... we made that mistake when we first got there.. paying $15aud which would have cost $2 in public transport.
Also, dont bother with the $4aud dvds or the $15aud new releases filmed at the cinemas... lol
trust me! :)
anyway, sunset bungalows.. trust me worth it. I would personally recommend the normal bungalow rooms unless you really want the spa.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about the resort. Happy to answer them!
