“Very Pleasant and Stress-Free Stay on the Water”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2009

I stayed here for about 12 nights and was very pleased with the location, ambience, and staff. It is a 15 minute walk from town, which is perfect. 4 of the rooms have, as a porch, a little beach leading out to the harbor, on which you can kayak for free and as long as you want. The rooms are simple, spacious, quiet, and comfortable. Very peaceful lodge and I'd highly recommend it if you're staying in Vila and want a relaxing, trouble-free place that is located just a short walk from town. (I couldn't get the shower water to get hot a couple times, but it was not the end of the world. Just rinse off real quick and go enjoy Vanuatu!)

On a recommendation from neighbours, my husband and I stayed at the wonderful Fatumaru Lodge Port Vila for a week in June 08. Absolutely magic - a little gem. The service was top class. The view from our room was picturesque, you step off the plane on this wonderful island and you are on holiday. Friendly approachable people who are only too happy to help you. Fatumaru Lodge is close to all amentities and only a walk up the driveway to public transport. Kitchen facilities suited us and meant we could choose where and when to eat with the added bonus of being close to restaurants for that special treat as well. Would we go back ... yes Would we recommend this facility ... yes The perfect holiday destination for hard working people who need a holiday not a trip.

A great location - close to town, but just far enough to feel a million miles away! It was great to canoe into town. Mele Bay water is beautiful, clean and inviting. The room is large and well furnished, the bathroom excellent. Only the kitchen is slightly too cramped, but adequate. Buying fresh produce at the market and cooking oneself is a great way to become more involved with the people, cuts costs and above all is a lot healthier than eating out all the time. Opening the amazing dark-wood fold-out doors was an never ending delight allowing the sun to stream in. We will return soon!

We spent one week at this lodge in July 2009, in a studio with ocean view. At the beginning I was afraid that it was too far from the town, but in fact, it is at a walking distance (about 15 minutes). If we ask questions about Efate and Vanuatu, Patricia and Pascal, the french owners, answer easily.
The other more luxuious accomodations are out of the town or in small islands so not easy to visit Port Vila, to go to other restaurants and so.
The room is quite large, with a little fridge and oven. The Internet access is at the same price than in town

My new husband and I stayed at Fatamaru lodge with a group of friends to celebrate our wedding. Everything about Fatamaru was perfect. The location and rooms are terriffic, the pictures do not lie, and it is even better when you see it in person!!! Beautiful views, comfy beds and a great atmosphere. We had some terrific nights by the pool and on the jetty. Our large group took up the whole hotel which included two children who had a great time swimming and enjoying the facilities.
The staff at Fatamaru are excellent. They were very helpful and reccomended some great activities for us. Emily and the girls made us a delicious breakfast and Thomas gave us insight into the local culture. Our hosts Pascal and Patricia were very helpful, Pascal personally picked us up from the airport and made us all feel very welcome. My husband and I got married during our stay and Pascal made sure that everything went smoothly. He even arranged for the Captain of our plane on the way over to Vanuatu to congratulate us! It is worth the stay at Fatumaru just to meet them. And how can I forget Dexter? Their loveable cat who gave us many laughs and enjoyed keeping us company while we fished off the jetty.
Overall we had a great holiday and will be coming back again. All of our guests would higly reccommend this resort! If you read a bad review, don't believe it! You cannot possibly be stressed or unhappy at Fatumaru!

We stayed in a self-contained seaside room; it was close to town, 10 min walk or 2 min bus but still a peaceful and quiet location.
Our room had a great view over the bay and was self-contained so we could cook a few meals our selves to keep the costs down.
Kayaks are free to use and we enjoyed going for a paddle around the bay.
All the staff were very friendly and helpful, we would definitely stay here again.
