I stayed there while doing some business in town and found it was great value for money. Joana is a very nice lady who is attentive to details and understands how to grow her business. I stayed in the ensuite room which was the largest room with own bathroom and a bar fridge, for 6 nights. Other rooms have shared bathroom facilities so I felt extra money was worth it. Josephina the housekeeping lady makes sure everything is clean every day.
The shared kitchen and dining area is very nice and cool, it is done in a nakamal style so is open to air which is a nice experience to be cooking in.
At some nights dogs barked nearby for short periods of time but it wasn't bad. You can expect that in any island country and in town. I had a very good sleep every night.
There is a main road not far away from the house but surprisingly there is little noise from it, which was very nice.
Joana is still working on the hot water system, so in the meantime only "island showers" are available, i.e. cold water :) Not that cold, really.
All in all a great place to stay in Vila, good value and you can cook your meals if you want to. It takes about 7 minutes to walk to the big supermarket. Another 10 to the Grand Casino and another 10 to the main market and town centre. The road is busy but you can always catch a bus, just raise a hand. Costs 150Vt from town to lodge. Never ask how much, just have 150Vt.
Not all bus drivers know where the lodge is, so try other nearby points, such as "DHL office" or "intersection with the road that goes to the main wharf". The lodge is in nambatu area.
Thanks again Joana and will see you there again!
