“A wonderful honeymoon!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2013

My husband and I recently stayed at Poppy's on the Lagoon for our honeymoon. We absolutely loved this resort and would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Firstly, the staff were just so happy and helpful. They knew us by first name and couldn't do enough to ensure we were having a wonderful stay. The food at the resort was beautiful - I highly recommend the delicious banana pancakes for breakfast and the chicken for dinner!! We found ourselves eating at the resort more often than we intended to, because the food was so delicious, only took 10-15 minutes to be ready and was served to us wherever we chose to eat. One night they even delivered our dinner to us out the front of our villa so we could eat overlooking the water in private.

Our room was always clean and had beautiful fresh flowers displayed everywhere. The spa was heaven and it was so nice having a relaxing spa overlooking the lagoon. The adults pool provided us with an opportunity to relax poolside and read quietly without being in the way of children who wanted to splash about.

One of the things we loved most about Poppys was it's location. We were only a 10 minute walk from town (or a few minutes in a taxi) but when we returned to the resort we felt like we were so far away from the busy city. It had such a relaxed vibe and that was certainly what we were looking for after to build up to our wedding.

I would highly recommend staying there and can't thank the staff enough for taking such good care of us :)

Last November, my hubby and I stayed at Poppies on the Lagoon. I have decided to share with all you other Trip Adviser reader my impressions of Poppies.
If you want a relaxed laid back relaxing place to stay I found that Poppies fits the bill.Poppies that is quiet and small, with friendly staff who have time to help you in any way they can.
We picked the rooms higher up which were studio rooms which had its good and bad Points. Good if you are fit and don't mind having to climb up the stairs(they were Steep!), you get plenty of cooling breezes all day long and have access to the infinity pool that's between rooms. Also we had a nice view to the lagoon too.
Our room was on the end of the top level and we could hear the people who worked at the local tour company getting ready in the morning to take out tourists. Not that noisy.
The food at Poppies is wonderful and there is always plenty of it. As first time visitors we went to the Island night which is held on Tuesdays. a great introduction to the local culture and the staff explain various foods there are live musicians playing while we ate.( Nice Touch).

A 15 minute walk will bring you into Port Vila which is interesting with its busy main road and French influenced Patisseries YUM. A small tip, If you are going into Port Vila don't go when a cruise ship is in as the shop keepers increase prices when the cruise ships come to town.
If you are looking for tours my suggestion is to find a tour operator called Sam who is at Poppies every day taking guests out for the day. His day trips are very reasonable and Sam is such a friendly guy he will stop along the way at any time you like so that you can take photos.
It's better to go with him I think as there are other tour groups that are very rushed and you don't want to rush from place to place while on holidays.
When we went with Sam we went to the Summit Gardens and Cascade Water falls which was very beautiful. Its about 1/2 hr walk to the Cascades from where you get dropped off. If you don't want to walk through to the falls you can swim in a pool at the bottom near the car park.
This was our first trip to Port Vila and we loved it so much that we hope to go back to Poppies again this year, Over all it was a wonderful trip and the only thing I would change is that we hope to get accommodation right on the lagoon this time as it saves us walking up the stairs daily.

Room Tip: Rooms on the Lagoon have no stairs to climb.

I would just like to say thank you to all the friendly staff at Poppy's for making our family holiday to Vanuatu so enjoyable. Everyone was so helpful and nothing was a bother. Our unit that we had was cleaned daily, the facilites were exceptional, the restaurant is wonderful and the meals are beautiful. organising tours or adventure trips were done effeicently and without any trouble by the wonderful staff at poppy's. It is only a 15 minute walk into town, where you can do as much or as little as you like and the buses bring you right back to the resort. Thank you poppy's we will visit again soon.

We had our 'familymoon' at Poppys and had our 12month year old son with us. The resort was so friendly and catered extremely well for families of all ages. We were in an apartment which allowed us to self-cater and move at our own pace. The resort restaurant is also great and there are BBQ facilities as well. The 10-15 min walk to town is manageable with a pram and buses/taxis pass by regularly. All the staff were wonderful & friendly, and always happy to stop & chat. The resort also has more private studio rooms & and an adult only pool so caters for child free groups as well. Would definitely recommend the resort to anyone heading to Port Vila!

My wife and I took our 5 yr old granson and some friends with their three kids to Poppys on the Lagoon for a well deserved holiday , the friendly staff were extremely helpful and the managers always willing to help out with advice from prices to pay for taxi service to restaurants to go for the best local and international cuisine , the meals on site were fantastic (we rarely ate anywhere but the resort and my wife and friends strongly recommend the poppys burger), the child minding service was also fantastic (and very reasonably priced) with the staff willing to extend the time we asked for following our massage and shopping expedition .

Room Tip: The room suites overlooking the pool offer great views (particularly the top floor)

We stayed in one of the studio rooms which overlooked the lagoon. Found the staff friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the 15 minute walk into the town. We enjoyed not staying on a main thoroughfare or road.
.Poppys had all the facilities one needed on site. Cleaning staff did great job with lovely sense of humour. Thoroughly recommend this location to anyone wanting somewhere to stay in Port Vila.
