“Funtastic Family Holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2011

Having stayed in vanuatu many times I decided to take my 2 girls, charlotte aged 3 and holly nearly 2 yrs to this resort and all i can say is that i have finally hit the jackpot when it comes to excellent family accomodation. we stayed in a delux pool view room and it was perfect. big open plan room, cooking facilities, washing machine, dryer and the coolest spa bath on the balcony over looking one of many pools. The staff were excellent due to the fact that if we needed something or some help we would get it, furthermore they just let you sit in peace and didnt annoy me. The staff were also great with my girls and that is very important in my eyes as they are number one. Bonus features of this resort were the swimming pools, use of kayaks, free meals for kids under 12, porta cot, fish feeding etc....very impressed and am glad they have adopted the family friendly policy as of the 1st july 2011..will be definitely going back sooner than later..thankyou all staff at iririki resort.

Room Tip: pool rooms are great for families as they are safe and the pools, playground, tennis court, gym and...

This is a great location and perfect if you wish to have a good base to get out and about and explore Vanuatu. The free ferry service makes it easy to travel into town at anytime. As the food (at night) on the Island is not very good we used the Restaurants in town most nights. We enjoyed the Breakfasts but the Dinner meals were just bad. We dine at each Restaurant on the Island twice to give them a fair try. Twice we go hairs in our food, one bug and lots of cold food. We also had the lovely experience of a Rat running across the table, ok in the tropics this can be expected but not even so much as an offer to change the table cloth or cutlery from the staff is a bit of a shame. The Snorkelling around the Island is surprisingly good. The views lovely especially from the Bar/Pool area. The older side of the Island with the Villas needs to be better maintained and a good spruce up so I recommend staying in one of the new rooms and apartments on the sea side. Staff are nice and friendly even on the ferry when they are obviously leaving work for the day which is a great touch. If the Garden Villas and Food were improved on this would have really made for an excellent stay.

We booked this hotel because we got a special offer on Cudo (a 'daily deal' website). The accommodation was good but I would have been very disappointed if we had paid any more (we stayed in a Garden Fare). It is quite basic and could do with some up-grading.

The staff are incredibly kind and friendly (in fact everyone in Vanuatu is) however customer service doesn't really exist here at Iririki. I know that 'Island time' is meant to be slower but over an hour for a toasted cheese sandwhich seems a bit much! The staff are not very attentive and it is hard to get service in the restaurants and bars (although there are always so many staff around). We remarked that we could have spent twice as much during our stay if we had been able to get any service.

The pools are lovely (the pool at the Bali Hai bar although smaller is better if you want to escape famillies) and although the resort seemed quite busy (with a few weddings) nothing felt crowded. Breakfast wasn't great and we probably would have preferred not having it included but the a la carte menu and food in the Minchener restaurant was wonderful.

Beware that it's also quite a noisy place and the 24 hour ferry that runs back and forth to the main land is a wonderful service but very noisy, all night long.

We were here for out honeymoon and having heard so many stories of people getting treats in their rooms, upgrades etc when on their honeymoon I made sure to mention that it was ours. No one at Iririki mentioned it or did anything, even a complimentary drink at happy hour would have been nice!

Room Tip: Don't get a 'Beach Fare' they are on the noisiest part of the island with the 24 hour fe...

We stayed at Iririki for 12 days and loved the location and outlook from almost every spot on the island.
It is a great place as a base but there were many areas it could be improved.
Generally the overall maintenance of the resort is not up to scratch, rooms are tired, externals of the buildings in need of a paint etc.
Room service is very slow and they can forget your order.
Housekeeping is shocking. We had our sheets changed once in 12 days and when asked about this I was told they had a problem, no sheets. Shampoo and conditioner replaced only once.
The people who work there are nice but generally seem to be either poorly trained or just don't know what is expected in a resort that sells itself as a high standard resort.
Prices are 5 but I would really rate it as a 3 star resort.
This sounds harsh but it is the reality.

Family and friends (30 guests) came to Iririki to celebrate our son Nathan'and daughter in law Clare's wedding. Everything went off smoothly thanks to the organisation of Nathan Bucknall, Executive Assistant Manager and his team. What ever was asked was delivered for the 7 days we stayed on the island. Nothing was too much for the staff. If we wanted clean beach towels or extra linen it was there. Rooms were cleaned every day and the flowers left on table and bathroom was just beautiful. Bar staff Sethy was always there when we needed a drink and that great welcoming smile. Albert, our receptionist, photographer extroadinaire was fantastic and will be a friend for life! We will always keep in contact with him, just a gorgeous man.
We will be back, and highly recommend, remember you are seeing a different culture and the countryside not the hotel room.
Loved it, loved it, loved the people..........Vivian and John Brook, South Australia

Starting with Air Vanuatu which was good we arrived in Vanuatu and were met by beautiful smiling friendly people. The transfer went smoothly and we arrived on the island. The weather was great which helped however everything was done to make out holiday memorable. The blue, green, purple waters were magnificent.
The studio apartment was spacious, modern, comfortable and clean and we had a fabulous view over the ocean. The people tidying up our room were lovely and obliging and always with a smile.
The Head Porter, Malon was just great and went out of his way to help us as did everyone else. The dining staff were always smiling and helpful and the breakfasts were very good.
Located just off Port Vila it was a pleasant few minutes by ferry from the island making it very accessible to the main shops.
All in all a lovely experience and one we would definitely recommend.

Room Tip: We enjoyed our Snorklers Cove studio. It was quiet and a great view. It would be our preference.

My partner and I recently spent 5 nights at Iririki and all in all we were very happy with our holiday. I must confess I am a little confused about the comments regarding linen as ours were fine. Yes we did see a rat but this is a tropical island and quite frankly wild life like this should be expected. The island is full of little charming lizards too and we also saw hermit crabs there and so if your not squi, ish about the inevitable wildlife you will be fine. My only negative comments would be (and they are minor complaints) that housekeeping didn't replace our shampoo/shop, the food in the restaurant about the ski/kayak shop wasn't great and they need to learn how to make a constant mojito.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and pleasant (as are all people in Vanuatu) and after my partner lost her passport on the first day en route to the island they called and searched everywhere we had been and had it back in her hands within 24 hours!

We had an amazing time there and would definitely return. As long as you go there expecting all that accompanies a tropical island and the fact that Vanuatu itself is very relaxed you will have a great time.
