“A nice resort in Port Vila”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2013

We stayed five nights at the resort - we found the villas beautiful and the grounds/resort very well maintained.

We spent most of time at the resort lounging on the beach and kayaking in the lagoon. However, make sure you secure your lounge early on Sunday or just stay in your villa - since everything's closed, guests from other resorts (primarily the Warwick) come across in large numbers and make the resort chaotic and less private.

The restaurant is ok. Breakfast is very limited and poor in comparison to other resorts e.g. the Warwick... don't even bother with coffee. We also had dinner in the restaurant and were disappointed. Although the restaurant was largely empty (and remained empty throughout our meal), we were told they were booked out and placed in a corner next to a sewer pipe (or something that really stunk). We paid approx. AUD100 for 2 people for ordinary service and food. Our food came out overcooked, under seasoned and with elements missing. We highly recommend going across to Wild Ginger at the Warwick for a cheaper and much tastier meal. The music played at the restaurant was pretty poor too - with the same songs being replayed within short timeframes - everyday.

Although we didn't have great experiences at the restaurant - the Melanesian feast put on by the resort is fabulous. We highly recommend it. There are so many choices of traditional food and the fire dancers are incredible!

We were married on Erakor Island May 2012, and when planning our first anniversary we thought we would try somewhere different, but just couldn't think of anywhere else we would rather be. For those looking for a wedding venue - you could do no better. Although Lita and Abby deal with many weddings in different stages of planning at a particular time, you feel like yours is the only one.

Our anniversary trip was quite different to the first time, plagued with flight delays and cancellations resulting in us turning up nearly two full days late to the Island. We finally arrived 8:30PM and there on the wharf to greet us was darling Lita (who had made our wedding day last year, far more than we ever could have dreamed), and Tyronne Mann (chef extraordinaire, who created sensational dishes right up there with the best we have tasted anywhere in the world). They had heard we were returning and stayed late so they could welcome us back. Tyronne insisted on creating another superb meal for us before he went home.
The following day other staff who were not rostered on came to say welcome back to us. We have never felt so welcome anywhere. We loved it so much I notified my boss I was not going to be back until the following week and we changed our flights back to stay another 3 days!

Waterfront spa villas are wonderful. Sitting in the spa on the deck with a glass of fine French Champagne, watching the sun sink over the hill to be replaced by moonlight on the water and stars that made the entire sky look like the Milky way. It doesn't get any better - or does it?
For our anniversary dinner, chef Tyronne went all out (having recently been inspired by Heston Blumenthal) and I cannot imagine any meal ever again topping his efforts that evening. Tyronne - thank you so much.

Room Tip: Waterfront spa villas 6,7 and 8 are great with your own little piece of beach and great snorkelling...

We spent a day on Erakor Island and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. As has been mentioned in other reviews there is a charge for the ferry across but this can be credited against food and beverage. It was lovely sitting overlooking the water and having lunch. The beach was just beautiful for swimming and the water very warm. While the beach is sandy I would still advise reef shoes for protection against any pieces of coral. There were also a large number of large starfish in the bay so reef shoes might offer some confidence walking in the water, though we were assured they were harmless. Took a walk around the island which was very enjoyable. A great place for a day out and there weren't many people there - so a quiet relaxing day.

We spent three nights at Erakor on our honeymoon and we loved every moment of the stay!

We stayed in an ocean front villa (it's worth the extra money!) and we could walk out the door right onto the beach with a lovely spa on the patio. The resort only has about 30 villas on the island and the staff are very accommodating of your needs. They actually get to know you and know your drinks and meals.
Alice in the restaurant was amazing along with the chief at the tour desk and the boys behind the bar. David and his wife were great too. We didn't leave the island at all for three days cause we loved it so much.

The food was amazing and we highly recommended the mellanesian feast on Thursdays. The food was delicious and the fire dancing was great.

The only thing I would say is wifi should be complimentary. They do have a computer you can use though. We then went onto stay at Iririki resort and we wished we had stayed at Erakor instead!

Highly recommend!

We didn't stay in the hotel but spent a day there. You can pay 100v to get the ferry and then you are credited to use that amount at the resort. It was the perfect place to spend the day laying on the beach with a cocktail or 2. The staff were lovely too.

9 days in late August - of real bliss ... a very warm and friendly welcome followed by exceptional friendliness by the whole team at Erakor during our whole stay ... this cannot be highlighted enough - the team was just lovely! Many thanks in particular to Esta (masseur lady), Blonca, Henry and Gilbert. Always there for those many questions I had :)
The resort is small - just what we were looking for - privacy guaranteed.
Although we booked a lagoon view villa (simple option) we were more than happy with what we've got - a modern, spacious room plus a bathroom renovated to up-to-date standards. The house was painted inside in neutral modern colours - beautiful local timber frames gave it the island touch. Coffee, tea etc was re-stocked without a problem daily.
A private balcony with timber furniture overlooked our private beach that got cleaned every day of sea-weed (which was funny to watch, since being Kiwi we didn't mind the sea-grass at all). Although, as others mentioned, it was a bit windy on the east-side where we were, I didn't mind that too much.
One point of caution though: its still a bit chilly in late August (Vanuatu winter) - so some long-sleeved shirts and trousers are recommended for the evening. We asked for an extra blanket at night - no probs!
A little island walk around the resort kept us moving after breakfast - and you can feed the fish from the deck of the restaurant that doubles as the breakfast venue. Plenty of variety re food at breakfast - including little steaks with potatoes every second day or so. Eggs will be made to your liking. Its all inclusive.
Highly recommend a massage with Esta - took advantage of her skills three times! No more needs to be said.
Day-trippers (as at every known resort in Vanuatu) crowd the main beach a little bit ... but its such a serene setting - one does not mind. Great snorkeling all along the west-side.
One draw-back: the restaurant - we tried it three times and were very disappointed - with most meals - we were patient and tried to give the chef 'a chance' - but gave up after three trials. We would not order a steak there again ... plus the service took a long time... and it is quite pricey for what it is.
It is not an adults only resort - so one should like the little ones who enjoy the beach and the playground there as well ...
The ferry service works without a hitch ... it takes about 5 minutes to get over to the other side ... and taxis (that were always available) will get you to Port Villa for 300 VAT for two ... same as the bus ... negotiation is the word :)
All in all: we loved our stay at Erakor resort!

Room Tip: Villa 18 (last one on the east side). If you can live with a little wind, the east side is just fine...

My two daughters (13 and 24 years old) spent a week here and enjoyed every minute. We arrived into Vila airport from Sydney at 23:30 and we arrived at the little ferry jetty in the early hours of the morning. Our Evergreen Tours transfer driver stayed with us until the ferry arrived to take us across the Lagoon and we were met on the other side by extremely friendly staff and shown to our lovely bungalow.
Ours was number 14 which is on the Eastern side of the island. It was very clean and beautifully presented.
We all had a great time staying here and special praise must go to Blanca who was always so friendly and happy to help, and to Peter who looked after the beach area (loungers, kayaks, snorkel equipment etc) impeccably.
The food and drinks we had on the island were of consistently high quality; the Movie Night (with pizza, popcorn and ice cream) was fun, and the Melanesian Feast Night spectacular and should not be missed.
Erakor will suit you if you want to be away from it all - no televisions, no late night partying (although we did hear music from the mainland sometimes) etc.
My daughter did subscribe to the resort wi-fi, but found that coverage was sporadic and not good from our bungalow. There is free access to the internet using the computer in the reception area, so this is a better bet.
A great place to get away from it all and totally relax. Couldn't have asked for better.
