“Fab resort with all that you need”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2013

This is a great little resort with all that you need to enjoy your stay in Port Vila. Close to the town centre and waterfront/market area and less NZ$2 to grab a bus. Pools are nice, and the adults pool was a peaceful haven - although we spent most of our time either kayaking or swimming in the lagoon. Rooms have been pleasantly refurbished and are on a par with other Pacific Island resorts at that price point. Food and beverage slightly overpriced, but so is the rest of Port Vila!

Room Tip: The garden rooms don't have a usable balcony, so if you want to sit outside, get a room facing t...

Good Morning KylieHTaupo

Thank you for your 'Fab' review.

Being close to town whilst still on a tida lagoon makes us a very easy base to get out and explore some of the fantastic experiences in Vanuatu or just sit back and relax.

Hope to welcome you back to Vanuatu very soon.

This is a great hotel and was a fantastic base for our holiday in Vanuatu. The décor may be a little tired in places, but our room was VERY comfortable, the staff were very friendly and really helpful, the location is stunning, and the food was superb. We especially enjoyed relaxing in the lobby bar enjoying some of their signature Tassariki Sundaes after getting back from our snorkelling tour.
Being on the lagoon, It's a great place to just relax and have a bit of a play with their kayaks and catamarans. But also being half-an-hour walk to Port Vila, it's a great base from which to explore Vanuatu. Tours were easily and expertly arranged by the helpful staff, with pick-ups from the hotel.
We had an awesome time and hope to be back - definitely recommended to all our friends.

Room Tip: The 'Lagoon View' is probably worth the extra cost if that matters to you - 'Garden View...

Good Morning ThatKiwiCouple

Thank you for your "Great' review.

One of the big differences in Vanuatu as a holiday destination is that the ability to get out and about have some very unique experiences and not travel far to have them. The tidal Lagoon makes the activities available all day in a very safe environment and helps to work of those sundaes!

We hope to welcome you back to Vanuatu as well!

Great Holiday Inn. The rooms were of international standards. The grounds had the feel that you were in Vanuatu. I really enjoyed this hotel. I loved the open air lobby. The only thing I can say was I don't think they were expected me. when I got there. I had rented a car got there well before the rest of the guests that came on my flight. I think most guests come on the shuttle they have from the airport. I had to look around to find someone.Other than that it was a good stay.

Good Morning jeffbI88

Thank you for your 'Great' review.

We recognise that it's important to ensure that our guests get the feel of Vanuatu whilst still getting the creature comforts that a global brand brings. Sorry to hear that your arrival experience was not to our usual standard and sounds like we need to be very mindful that not everyone arrives by bus.

Look forward to welcoming you back to Vanuatu in the near future.

Stayed here the first week of September 2013 with a group of 40 from Melbourne and was pleasantly surprised by the improvements since my last visit in 2005.
The staff were always courteous and willing to help with nothing being too much trouble but i must say that the breakfast menu was not as extensive as the last time i visited especially the size and quality of the apricot danishes that i have raved about to one and all since 2005 was a major disappointment, maybe a change of pastry cook is to blame?
The beds were the most comfortable that i have slept in for a long time, even had a peak at the mattress to find out what brand it was.
Dinner menu at the Verandah restaurant was very appealing and i had the best steak in Port Vila when eating there.

The new adults only pool is a godsend if you want to just relax and enjoy the mood away from the kiddies pool which has also been improved by the enlarged pool and snack bar area.

Amenities for guests were great including Kayaking, Sailing and the like but i must say that if you advertise a golf course on the resort it should be in better condition than it is and not the mickey mouse track that is presented?

Good Morning David P

Thank you for the review .

The mattresses are a brand standard for Holiday Inn Resorts so you will find the same great sleep in anyone of the 48 we have globally. We of the main exports we have in Vanuatu is beef and as the locals say the biggest stress that the cattle have here is a coconut hitting them on the head!

Appreciate the feedback on the golf course and danishes. We are currently working through some upgrades to the greens and have some new equipment on the way that will further enhance the experience.

Look forward too welcoming you all back in Vanuatu in the near future.

Honestly, what I have said in the title is the best recommendation I can make. Firstly, you have to remember this is Vanuatu, secondly, this is not the same as Holiday Inn in other countries and the premises is pretty tired looking BUT, the staff are very friendly and will try and accommodate your needs.
We were not that impressed with our room on arrival, the tiles are cracked, the paintwork has seen better days and some of the furniture is marked. Depending on the cleaner, they may or may not have cleaned around the usually static objects on the bed side table I.e. phone and alarm clock, but once you look past this there are worse things that could happen on holiday. There is a great little terrace pool where you can escape children, the buffet breakfasts and dinners are good especially if you have a 2 for 1 priority privilege card and there is happy hour at both the pool and lobby bar each day. Day trips can be organised at the hotel and charged to your account but if you want to exchange money then go to town where the rates are better. You will get charged extra for using your credit card but not for a Visa Debit card.
There are good restaurants away from the hotel once you have had a guts full of the under fives at meal times but the weekly fire show is quite impressive.
When you arrive at the airport you may be offered an upgraded room but they won't necessarily be available for your whole stay although its cheaper to take the risk on this than book beforehand. As I said, take the chill pill before you arrive....

Room Tip: Over the water bungalows are available but won't necessarily get the sun all day or be that priv...

Good Morning NZTraveller20

Thank you for your review.

Some of the dining options around Efate certainly add a little something to the experience of Vanuatu with Restaurants that have been in place since before Vanuatu gained independence in 1980 including one that hasn't changed it's french based menu for 30+ years!. Sorry to hear that we didn't meet your expectations on arrival into the room and we have certainly discussed the room cleaning with the team as this is not the standard we are well known for.

Look forward to welcoming you back to Vanuatu in the future.

We spent a week at the resort on a mother and daughter trip. We had a problem with the bathroom in our room but it was dealt with promptly and professionally by Kimberly who is an absolute asset to the company. All the staff are lovely, the food was great ( particularly breakfast!) and we had a very relaxing break! Some great day trips run by Evergreen Travel particularly the glass bottom boat tour which included snorkelling ( amazing to see all the fish!!). All in all, a great trip!

My partner and I were recently married at the Holiday Inn Resort, Port Vila. We could not recommend the Resort in a high enough manner. We had 60 guests also stay at the Resort without a single complaint.

The staff were excellent from the moment we arrived until we hopped in the bus to return to the airport. The food was excellent and with lots of variety. The children were entertained both by the kids club and the activities team. The setting was beautiful and one could not help but feel immediately relaxed upon arrival.

The over water villa we stayed in was beautiful. Feedback from guests in other rooms was incredibly positive.

On the day and night of our wedding the staff went above and beyond without being asked - from delivering a champagne breakfast to feed 10 people at 6.00am to even ducking into town to get nail polish for the bridesmaids! The food provided at the wedding was outstanding, the bar staff never left a guest without a drink, the entertainment was perfect and the fireworks were amazing!

For those of you considering a destination wedding in Vanuatu, I cannot speak highly enough of the Holiday Inn Resort and it's staff. In particular, a very special lady - Janelle Tokon the wedding coordinator working from the resort. Every detail was organised without any stress. Everything ran so smoothly and was perfect. Organising a wedding via emails / telephone may seem daunting but with a coordinator like Janelle it was a breeze! She was successfully able to coordinate photography, videography, hairdressers, spray tans, nails, a steam cleaner for the bridal party dresses, entertainment, fireworks, food, beverage, decorations...the list goes on! Janelle even created a beautiful seating chart when the one I had ordered did not arrive.

My (now) husband and I, together with our family and friends would all recommend this resort to anyone wishing to holiday in Vanuatu. Thanks so much for an amazing experience - we will definitely be returning!!!
