“Perfect”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

While in Port Vila we looked around some of the other places and decided we could not do better at any price for our next visit.
The location is very quiet, but not isolated. Close to places to eat if needed, but very good cooking facilities.
I most enjoyed sitting at the table on the back deck looking over the lawn, beach and light surf across the sea towards Port Vila.
The hosts Mark and Joanna were very helpful (and provide very clear instructions on how to get there).

“absolutely fantastic everything you need with a view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2014 for a stay in May 2014

We just stayed at otemanu cottage tu (number two) for nearly two weeks. We absolutely loved it. We would highly recommend this accomodation to everyone. The cottage is beautifully decorated, has wooden floors and a real island feel but very modern, and it has everything you could need. Great front deck to relax on and look out at the bay, cook a steak for dinner (BBQ provided) or have breakfast. We were warmly greeted by the owner, Mark and shown around - a fruit basket and bottle of wine was provided as well as some staples in the pantry - like coffee, sugar sauce etc. We loved staying here, very comfortable, quiet and has everything you need. Lots of dvd's to choose from to watch after a busy day sightseeing. Not far from great places to visit, like Cascade Falls, the Summit Cafe gardens and zipline, Tanna Coffee plantation and Benjor resort just up the road where you can have lunch or dinner if you like. Our favourite two places to visit were the beach bar up the road a bit, and from there you take a boat over to Hideaway island, best snorkelling i've ever done and so easy off the beach. We loved how mark has provided lots of snorkelling gear (you should be able to find your size) and beach towels. It costs 1250 vt to go to hideway for the day but extra (about 600 vt) for flippers etc, so we loved being able to take our own from otemanu. It was wonderful to come home after a day out to a lovely tidy house cleaned by lovely lia the housekeeper. You can catch local buses into town or to sites to see, just go wait on the road. we were lucky enough to meet a bus driver that lived in the local village and he gave us his number and we could call him most of the time to pick us up or collect us from town Mon -sat of course. Much cheaper than taxis - cost about 800 vt for both us from town. Otemanu was very affordable and would certainly go back and stay there. Loved it and beats staying in expensive resorts (which we found were noisy). Can't wait to go back. xxxx

“Fabulous cottage, well equipped with everything you need”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2014 for a stay in May 2014

Just spent a great week at this cottage. Accommodated two couples easily. Great view and snorkelling right out the front. The cottage had everything you needed and more including beach towels, snorkelling gear, shoes to wear on the coral, general pantry items along with wine, and fruit on our arrival. We were close to many of the Islands attractions local transport was available even bough we hired a car. The locals were extremely friendly and plenty of places to eat, especially Francesca's about a 30 minute drive away but we'll worth it. Thanks to Jo for meeting us at the late hour we arrived . We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this as a great place to stay and we thoroughly enjoyed Vanuatu. The only down side was the poor wifi connection. It was difficult to connect most of the time and extremely slow. When we were out at other island venues we found the wifi much quicker. With 3 of us having our own businesses, it was important for us to be able to use the wifi.

Thanks for your kind feedback. We glad you loved our place. You were great guests and welcome any time. We take on board your comments regards the wifi. We have complemented the router with an additional long range booster now, so a signal is clear across the whole property. We do apologise for the speed as our service provider has been having a few issues which we have been promised are now resolved...Cheers Jo

“A perfect place for a pleasant stay with your family”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2014 for a stay in December 2013

We (couple with two children of 5 and 8) were staying at the Otemanu Cottage for just over a week. Prior to our arrival at the airport we already received precise information how to find our way, together with detailed information on our new home. The cottage was perfectly equipped with all what you could hope - the best equipped place we ever met on our 5-month journey in the souther Pacif, Australia and New Zealand - even a precharged handy, snorkeling gear, plenty of DVDs, iPod-deck, etc, etc. Even beach-shoes were provided, and necessary to walk over the corals to go swimming. The cottage was perfectly clean and very well maintained and comfortable and the price-to-value ratio fully appropriate.

“A charming cottage on Mele Bay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2014 for a stay in December 2013

We were in Otemanu for one week and enjoyed it thoroughly. The location was good in that the view over the water was great, the neighborhood on Devil's Point Road was quiet and there were several sites of interest nearby - a boutique resort for dinner, a zipline and beautiful summit garden and a coffee processing plant and cafe. The housegirl Leah came three times during the week, cleaned and washed sheets - very charming person. The design of the house allowed breezes to keep it cool, seldom using the fan, lots of nice touchess with complete kitchen, comfortable beds, spacious bathroom, table and chairs on the front porch overlooking the Bay, hammocks, etc. etc. Oh, and did I mention the blanket of stars at night - virtually no surrounding lights to interfere. We would return in a heartbeat and yes, the snorkling off the front is well worth doing.

“Perfect Holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2013 for a stay in November 2013

We had a brilliant holiday at Otemanu. It was the most relaxing and peaceful place and yet only a short bus or taxi ride from the centre of Port Vila. The bungalow was well kitted out and we found everything we needed from hammocks to laze in the sun through to coral shoes and snorkelling gear to enjoy swimming from the reef of Otemanu's private beach. We felt very well taken care of - from the welcoming food and wine through to the attention to detail of the housekeeper who came in to clean and tidy up every two days. Overall - we had a smashing time and we would recommend Otemanu to anybody looking for a relaxing getaway.
