“Great dining experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2012

During my stay at Tamanu I was lucky enough to be able to try the majority of dishes on the menu, I must say that I was very impressed with all the meals that I was presented. I could not go past the tuna sashimi which was probably the best I've ever had, It was just so fresh I couldn't help but order this multiple times.

Another favourite was the beef and prawns, the meat was always cooked just to my liking and the prawns were fresh and flavoursome.
The best part was probably the Lobster Mornay which I would have to agree is their signature dish, the meal was probably the best seafood dish that i've had in a long while.

The staff were always present and accommodating to our needs, I wish all restaurants i've been to had the service standard that was on hand at Tamanu.

“Exotic dining in a relaxing atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2012

The dining is excellent with stunning views of the Pacific Ocean. The food was simply put to die for. With great value for money, The Lobster Mornay was superb. The service was of a very high standard with nothing being too much trouble for the staff. I would recommend Tanamu on the beach to anyone who wants a exotic, romantic and relaxing dining experience at an affordable price.

“Lovely setting, overpriced food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2012

There is no doubt that the view over the gorgeous white sand beach and sparkly turquiose sea is spectacular at Tamanu. The guest bungalows are lovely and the grounds immaculate.

But the food really is not on par with the setting or the price. Mains at $20 - $30 should be fabulous instead they were mediocre. Food was bland and accompanying side dishes even more so. Presentations were impressive.

The biggest offense was an overlooked detail: the kids' steak and chips meal was inedible. Something so simple and yet it was an embarrasingly tiny scrap of beef, inexpertly cooked (burned) and served lost in a huge pile of Chips.

Desserts were a dissapointment as well. The batter coating on the 'Snicker Bomb' was so tough it could not be cut with a spoon. The Baked Alaska was charred during the flaming process and the filling was flavorless and bland. The disk of cake beneath was stale. And at $15 it should have been divine.

Service was attentive and professional.

“Dinning Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2012

What more can you ask for in dinning, great atmospher, delicous food, breath taking views, hell the sea air made you hungry. Their signature dish Lobster Mornay was to die for. The presentation of each meal was exceptional, customer service was attentive and gracious and nothing was too much trouble for the staff, great service a totally great dinning experience.
