“Old building needing a lot of repair and cleaning.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2014

Stayed there for only two days in November 2013, not by choice but by necessity after delivering a boat from Australia. It hot water for showering and AC so I could get some sleep at night. Bar good and friendly.

Room Tip: upstairs looking over the pool seen the best.

Hi there

I am a seasoned traveller who has been to 136 countries and flown over 750 times. I have stayed in hundreds of hotels and I must say the service and quality of this hotel was one of the worst in comparison to what it shows on the homepage of hotels.com or where everywhere you want to book it. Totally overpriced and very unfriendly. The room was basically a lower quality than an ikea wooden bed. The only good thing was that the hot was was working. The room view which is supposeably Ocean view but partially they have a big ugly strange car repair kind of a area turned in to a restaurant. Just ugly! I thanked God I am out of there. Please do yourself a favour and do not stay here.

Room Tip: do not take the room above the "pool" or "street view"

Not that bad, but not great either. The rooms are big, ask for a sea facing second floor room, but tend to smell of smoke (even the nonsmoking ones). The food is okay in the restaurant, but no vegetarian so better to go to the nearby Korean place. Situated in between the main town and the airport. Cleaning service seems to be coming in to the room 2-4 times every day. Was told by locals that the re-build was not done properly and it would not be very safe in a major earthquake (have had two minor ones while I was there).

Room Tip: Sea facing second floor room

Stayed two night here
Good enough location on main road
Free airport pick up
Which I didn't know about until I saw my name when getting a taxi!
Quick check in
Hallways and rooms are in need of a refurb
Old carpets etc
Noisy old fashioned thru wall ac
Good choice of tv channels
Bed ok
Bathroom old but functional
Hotels are overpriced in Solomon Islands like in most of these developing countries!
No breakfast included
No free wifi
Could be bought for a week only!!
Very bad
Great exchange rate at hotel
Better then airport
Ocean view restaurant does a good eggs Benedict for breky
Dinner ok too but many items not available even though on menu!
Casino quite
Captains bar ok
Other restaurants too
Pool one good
Little to see in Honiara
And as the road ends 12 kms either side of it , nowhere to go either unless flying to another island
Top tip
Use white buses to go up and down main road 2 sol dollars
Safe place and nice people

I don't expect a lot when staying in the solomons, but the Pacific Casino Hotel was average at best. Firstly it's based quite a few kilometers out from Honiara. The room I had was basically a breeze block room, dimly lit (which was probably for the best!), full of mold and deperately in need of renovating. My room was also opposite a staff login punch clock and at midnight dozens of smoking staff chatted at the top of their voices for 30 minutes while swapping shifts.
However, the real gem was the restaurant - the food was great, full of local mud grabs, fish and lobster and very good prices. The other gem was the bar service around the pool - this was just so relaxing...

Room Tip: If you're on a budget, but still like great local fish meals and cold local beer at very good pr...

An enormous property that was probably something special back in the day. The pool area is in need of investment, the bars in the place are under stocked and stuffy, and in general this place is at the bottom end of the options for a place to rest whilst in Honiara.

The burgers attaché restaurant are nice, but it seems everything to do with the staff here are in slow motion.

Staying here this week for work in Honiara, this hotel has certainly seen better days. Staff definately need the boot up the backside for attention to customer service, no one seems to care or want to even help. Captians Bar is a disgrace no cooling that works properly, lack of choice of drinks, and a definate lack of service, staff more interested in sitting in the corner watching TV rather than serving the paying customers at the bar. Resturant attached to the hotel, well lets just say the less said the better when it comes to this place for dining. This was once a great hotel, it needs new management and somone with vigour to drive it and return it back to its former glory of the premier hotel in Honiara.
