“Very nice”

Palau Royal Resort - Nikko Hotels

The Palau Royal Resort is a nice hotel in a nice location. It caters for Japanese and Taiwanese but being the only 'westerners' was not a problem. The staff were friendly and most spoke English. The hotel is located across the street from Sam's Tours and dive shop which we used alot. They have a fabulous array of dive and site seeing tours. We were also able to walk to local restaurants for dinner on several nights and a convenient store is located across the street.

The facilities were nice, there is one restaurant that had decent food and wasn't too expensive. There was an internet cafe and billiards/game room that was handy at night. The pool side bar and indoor bar were sufficient.

The pool was nice but small and there is a man made beach with nice sand but you couldn't get in the water. That is too bad since the water is fabulous.

Overall the hotel is nice, not a 5 star but absolutely clean, friendly, safe and located nicely on the island and close to town.

PRR is a nice hotel, new and well-kept. The rooms are your standard 3-4 star rooms; the flat panel TVs are not that great - picture quality is only ok and let's face it, you don't go to Palau for great TV.

The views are quite nice you can get rooms that are not above the restaurnt - otherwise you'll just see a lot of rooftop. The rooms face a large rock island that looks like it has a cave - kinda cool. The water of course is always an amazing blue green color. It's too bad there is no beach as the hotel is right next to docks. That's actually one of the pluses - the hotel has a scuba outfit on its premises and you and embark and disembark right from/to your hotel. Also a good point about its location is that it is close to Sam's tours - we were able to walk back after our dives. It's also close to a great Japanese restaurant/lounge.

There is a pool and a small man-made beach - although the latter seems to always be a little soaked from the rains. These two don't seem to be well used by most guests; they were always barren when I looked.

The restaurant a la carte meals and buffets are quite good, especially the breakfast buffet. There are always asian dishes and seafood dishes.

Overall, it's as you would expect. I would of course prefer to stay at PPR (Palau Pacific Resort) but the higher prices they charge were too much - instead, we paid for day use of their beach for awesome snorkeling before our flight.

We took a chance with the Palau Royal Resort (PRR) because we couldn't find many reviews on hotels in Palau. The hotel is brand new. The staff were mostly English speaking Filipino and were very friendly and most helpful. The hotel is catered mainly towards the Japanese, but we felt welcomed and enjoyed the restaurants, ocean views, gym, pool table, free laundry, etc.

Sam's Tours picked me up daily for scuba diving. Their outfit is practically right across the street. Diving in Palau is superb.

The town of Koror has small shops and restaurants. We walked around one day and ate some great sushi in town. Taxi's were $5 from the hotel. The town seemed very safe and the Palauans were friendly towards us. We will keep Palau on our list of places to visit again.

“some info on Palau's latest resort”

Palau Royal Resort - Nikko Hotels

Our young family has just returned from a 5 day trip from Palau and we stayed at the Palau Royal Resort. We decided to post some info as this is a very new establishment, having been operating abt 6 mths.
Everything abt the hotel is very new and clean. Staff are helpful. There's a unique seawater pond/water feature that lets the seawater in, thereby creating tides over the lower portion of the pond. We liked the fact that there's a playroom where kids below 8 can play and laundry room with new machines and dryers that guests can use for free. The hotel has it's own pier so making those boat excursions to nearby islands and for night fishing very handy. There's also a dive shop on the pier that organises dives. Outside operators can also pick guests up from the pier.
However we are disappointed that the resort has a beach that doesn't allow guests access to the seawater. So we had to be content with the swimming pool which is such a shame as the waters around Palau are so pristine and full of colorful sealife! We had to go elsewhere to swim in the sea. The landscape design around the resort could be improved too!
