“Good location and lots of room to relax”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2014

The rooms are all apartments I was in a one bedroom but was told they have two and three bedroom as well.
They have an Aussie power point in the bathroom which was a plus, and a nice selection of amenities. My shower was over the bath but had good water pressure.
The kitchen and the living room are large and comfortable and have everything you need
The balcony was large with table and chairs and a couple of lounges overlooking the beach.
The decor did feel a bit dated, but it is a comfortable property and I think you could relax with the family here.
it has a pool, and two gyms, one ladies only.
it is right in the thick of Anse Vata so restaurants and shops on your doorstep.
It has a nice restaurant too.

Going to New Cal on a regular basis, I have stayed in several of the good hotels around Anse Vata. Other places have larger rooms, immediate beach access, restaurants overlooking the beach, etc... But from my experience, none have the internet access provided by the Hilton Promenade.
If during your stay in Nouméa, you wish to stay in a good hotel and wish or need to use Skype, or fast internet uploads and downloads, this is the place to stay...
Last week's stay was my first at the Hilton Promenade and I cannot comment on the hotel's restaurant, simply because i did not use it.
Another thing to mention, now that I think about it, is the non-event the check in and check out were... In other places, that can be tricky, even as a regular guest... Here, the process was plain simple and straightforward...
I'll be back in a couple of weeks and will try to update this post, based on the next experience.

Room Tip: The best restaurant nearby is the Miretti Gascon (outstanding)

Found this hotel great as it is centrally located and good quality except for one problem.... it is really noisy from the bar downstairs. We only stayed 1 night and it was a Saturday but the music was really annoying as it went up and down in volume. Take this away and I would recommend the hotel.

Don't know where to start. This is a brand new Hilton property, used to be a Great Western Hotel. I would guesstimate the age of the property by at least 20+ years, so it's a bit tired to say the least. But it's an interesting concept, since it's not just a hotel room but a room with a fully functional kitchen, including dishwasher, microwave, two hot plates, a full size refrigerator/freezer and an oven and even a washer/dryer combination as well as an ironing board and iron. The appliances are quite old and some of the brands ( like Kelvinator ) are out of business, so when there are problems, it's difficult to find instructions or parts. The hotel even provides dishwasher soap tablets and washer laundry pads. The washer worked well, but it took six hours to dry the laundry. Bath robes were provided ( but not always replaced ), slippers were not. Towels and bed sheets were only replaced when either placed on the floor or when a request card was placed on the bed. Otherwise a three day exchange was in place. The kitchen came in handy when we were preparing the famous New Caledonia Angel shrimps. Everything from glasses to plates, from pots to pans, from cutting board to silverware, vegetable peeler to can opener is provided. But I am ahead of myself. We arrived by car and the hotel was easy to find. It consists of three buildings which are not internally connected. We got a room in the center building. Parking was free, check in was quick and easy. Elevator operates with room key use only on the way up. Rooms are accessible by outside walkway. Our room was spacious and featured a large glass door giving access to a large balcony provided with a table, two chairs and two lounge chairs. It overlooked the bay. It was a great view that we enjoyed for the length of our stay. Big problem was the bed which was constantly rolling away from the headboard and nobody could fix it and make it stationary. I would have liked to sit in bed and read a book, it was not possible. Otherwise bed was firm, however, the nightstands were inexplicably low, so to see the time on the alarm clock, one need to roll over on the side and look down to see the dial and the current time. TV had local, French and Australian channels as well as NHK, BBC and CNN. We got complimentary Internet which worked great and was fast. The swimming pool never gets sun and the staff at the reception provided us with pool towels and directed us to a sister property around the corner where the pool was bathed in sunshine, which was nice. Housekeeping was "Island" style. Friendly staff, but hit and miss on the cleanliness. Never got rid of the "smell" in the toilet. However, the regular Hilton amenities were provided on a daily basis. Bathtub was narrow and small and a bit slippery. The last two days of our stay the room next door was occupied by a family with kids which made our stay less satisfactory. Kids made tons of noise, moved balcony furniture around noisily and ran up and down the hallways. A hotel should make any effort to keep families separated from singles and couples, especially when there are so many rooms and three building available to choose from. Big problem with the restaurant. As Hilton Gold we get free breakfast. It was nearly unacceptable. Service was generally nonexistent, except for a couple of days, when two French girls were working. You would think that after coming to the restaurant for ten days, someone would greet you with a smile instead of making you feel like a nuisance. The "hot" food choices were never even lukewarm and not tasting well, let alone appeal to the eye. Eggs were prepared to order, but the results were hit or miss. Coffee came thankfully from a machine and was acceptable as were the tea choices. When we arrived and doing our get familiar" rounds, the lady from the Spa warned us to avoid the restaurant. She knew better. But if you stick with Yogurt and a slice of fresh baguette, butter and marmalade you will be fine. Stay away from the fresh fruit which was infested by little fruit flies. As a side we were there during the New Caledonian mother's day during which the locals go out for breakfast at the hotels and were told by staff that there was no room for hotel guests. That says it all. But the hotel is located very centrally, especially when you have a car. Downstairs is a large shopping area consisting of restaurants and clothing stores. A bank is close by for money exchange. The beach is steps away, however, it's not a very nice beach, rocky and little room to stretch out and tan. There are many other restaurants close by but they are all very expensive and when I read the review the ratings fluctuate quite a bit. We lived of wonderful fresh baked baguettes, which we bought at a local bakery close by and wonderful pates available at the plentiful local supermarkets. And the plentifully available Angel shrimps. The hotel has Hilton prices but all in all it's a property which has a lot of potential but at this point it's not yet up to the usual Hilton standards.

I thought the overall hotel was very nice, the staff were a lot more helpful and more willing to speak english, the room was great and spacious. We had an early morning check out and as breakfast was included in our rate it was left in our room the night before, it would be good if they let you choose what you want instead of the big tray of items that you might not eat as it's not worth the amount paid. The receipt separated the room price and the breakfast price and seeing that, it was definitely not worth it considering that 1. I do not normally eat what was on the tray and 2. did not eat before my flight anyway. It's in a good location and in the open which was reassuring as walking past other hotels that that are 'nestled' away seem a little 'dodgy'. Overall, if i did happen to go back to Noumea, I would stay here again because it's clean, check in/out was easy, the staff were friendly and it had good apartment facilities.

Stayed three nights after 7 nights at Le Meridian Isle of Pines.
Very different experience.
Reception and front of office staff very helpful and friendly.
Housekeeping left a lot to be desired.
Apartment "smelt" on arrival. Hairs in bath which did not go down well. Had the place "fumigated" and cleaned. We were asked if we wanted to change apartments which we seriously considered Following day housekeeping was perfect. Third day all that occurred was fresh linen placed in bathroom and that was it. Sink and shower/bath still dirty and amenities left untouched. Once again had to get someone back to clean the apartment properly. If it was the same staff member responsible for the first and third day cleaning their ongoing employment should be seriously considered.
At Le Meridian on Isle of Pines housekeeping took around 45 minutes and was faultless. Added to that, a supervisor came around afterwards to check. Something the Hilton should consider with the quality of staff they have.
All four pillows were like rocks ad we had to get replacements after a poor night's sleep the first night.
Another issue was the dining room. Staff there unfriendly bordering on rude, and not helpful. The quality of the breakfast buffet was poor and not up to Hilton standard. So much so I asked if the dining room was contracted out which it is. We ate outside after that experience.
Although the building is in a good position with all apartments having a view over Anse Vata Bay, and reception and front of office staff very good, the cleanliness standard was not up to standard, which is a worry, and we would not return. Our choice next time would be Chateau Royale where we ate on two occasions

This was a 5 day holiday for myself and 2 friends. The hotel was perfect. Great location, great facilities and very friendly staff. We had one problem with changing of towels - we phoned reception and this was fixed immediately. There are lots of shops and restaurants under the hotel so finding somewhere to eat was not a problem. The beach was right across the road and was very safe for swimming. The staff were brilliant....I was worried about my lack of french but they spoke english and even helped me to pronounce my french correctly. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: We were on the 4th floor and had a great view of the sea and Duck Island. I would say any lower mig...
