“Good location, lovely room with a view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013

We had 7 nights here in October, 2013. The staff were very nice. The complex is spotlessly clean and attractive. We enjoyed the bar at the pool. The location right on the beach at the far end of Noumea is great. The view from our room was amazing all day and night. They have guest laundry's on 3 floors - free except for powder. The kitchen has most things you need to cook for yourself, small cooktop and microwave, and a dishwasher. We had a one bedroom apartment, separate bedroom and nice bathroom with large shower. 2 Flatscreen tv's and free wifi that is quite good most of the time. The only downside is the food. The breakfast is fairly ordinary - nothing cooked freshly. The scrambled egg tasted like it was powdered egg mixture and I found it inedible. The hot food was cold. If we hadn't a deal which included breakfast we would not have eaten there. We had dinner there one night, it was not worth reporting on, --very disappointing. I would stay here again for the lovely room and excellent location but would not take the breakfast package. There are quite a lot of restaurants and cafes nearby, and a regular bus at the front gate to take you anywhere for approx. $2 each ride.

Room Tip: The 7th floor with odd numbers is very good, views are fantastic of the bay and the city.

My husband and I spent five days at the Chateau Royal. The staff were friendly and helpful and were happy to book the airport shuttle or taxis for the guests. Buffet breakfast was excellent. The room had a modern kitchen with cooking facilities. We were keen to buy fresh seafood at the markets and cook on one of the nights but could have done with a few more basics in the kitchen like a spatula, tongs or similar. Lovely pool and small beach. Beach towels are available. The resort is close to many restaurants and the water taxi to take you to ile aux canards for snorkelling. We would stay here again.

We have just returned from 6 days at Chateau Royal and highly recommend it as a venue suitable for all ages. Staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. Our 4th floor room had a wonderful view over the bay. Rooms were clean, well-equipped and well maintained.
The buffet breakfast was impressive with a wide range of delicious food. Restaurant menus provided a great range of options.
Shops and aquarium were within walking distance and the regular bus stopped close by for trips to the market and to town.
We look forward to a return visit.

Very modern sited on the nicest part of the beach. Helpful staff. Rooms overlooking the beach are best and our room on the 4th floor was lovely. We couldn't get cash in the hotel but there is a BNP Parabis about 200m down the road. Can highly recommend the aquarium and maritime museum when you are there.

Room Tip: Overlooking the beach is best.

We have just returned from a sun drenched relaxing holiday at Chateau Royal. The refurbishments made from the Club Med days (our 1st visit) are modern and stylish. Try and secure a room facing the beach from floors 4 - 7 for great views.

We read many of the previous reviews for this resort before travelling and noise and customer service feature regularly. Unfortunately a function on our last night was far too loud, however we received a prompt e-mail apology from the Manager when we got home.
The customer service we experienced was perfectly acceptable. The staff were friendly, helpful and polite. All you need to do is show some courtesy in a foreign speaking country. We do not speak french but learnt Bonjour (hello), Merci (thank you) and a few other words and this went along way to building rapport.

Room Tip: A room facing Anse Vata beach gives perfect views of sunsets, action (wind & kite surfers).

The hotel was lovely, good sized rooms with a beautiful pool area. Unfortunately they didn't book our airport transfer when we asked for one and upon checkout we discovered we had no one to take us to our flight. We then had to pay for a private car which was 4000 francs more expensive than a regular transfer. A bad end to our trip and poor form for the hotel to not pay the extra for their mistake.
