I was concerned, having read previous reviews, that this might not have been a good choice but it was a clean hotel (we stayed in the new, non-smoking wing) - beds good, certainly no plastic sheets as per previous review! - fridge in room - you could also request hairdriers, adapters, coffee makers at no extra cost. Breakfast functional but basic - we were only there for 5 days and it reminded me of a "holiday inn" breakfast. Staff very helpful and spoke English (rare comodity in Suriname).

I would rate this hotel 1 star. It is grim. The mattress must be covered in plastic because it "crunched" every time I moved. The breakfast buffet was sparse and not appealing... a couple fried eggs in a warming tray... white bread for toast... some sort of spicy chicken with corn niblets... if you want bottled water it is $1.50/bottle even though I didn't eat anything at the buffet. The bathrooms have shower stalls with the slightest of lips to keep the water in. The shower head doesn't move, so with no shower cap, it was difficult to keep my hair dry. The lounge area is small and tawdry. Most of the other guests looked like hikers... so, maybe it is a good intro to the interior. However, I had business meetings and needed to be at my best. This hotel did not help.

On the positive side, the staff are friendly, and the room was clean.

Bottom line... not worth the $82... the sister resort, Torarica is MUCH better...

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. December 7, 8, 9, 2007, Before flying down to the interior of Suriname. I enjoyed my visit to this establishment. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful, as were the restaurant staff. The housekeeping staff did a good job keeping my room made up. This hotel reminded me of the 1930's to 1950's, but well maintained. It is located close to the tourist atttractions. The owner of this hotel also owns the hotel next door the Torarica, and Eco resort guest's are allowed to use their swimming pool. I had a ground floor room # 158. The rate was $ 65 U.S.D. per night. Quite reasonable. This place is full of old world colonial class and charm, very nostalgic. The free breakfast buffet is located under a giant palm frond palapa at the rear of the hotel grounds, that overlooks the Suriname River. I rate this hotel as two and a half to three stars. I think you will really enjoy your stay here. I did !

As part of a theatre group who had the privilege of performing a children's theatre play in Paramaribo, I stayed at Eco Resort Inn for 16 nights, late 2004. It was great. Friendly staff, clean and very spacious rooms (with fridge, writing desk, enough closet space, nice bathroom, airco, a balcony) and in a good location. The overall level of this motel/hotel is better than what i've had in many (fancier) places in Europe. Need a cab or a tour guide, just ask the front desk and in usually minutes a driver will come pick you up and drive you around Paramaribo for very little money.
Breakfast is served on a very nice terrace with a view of the Suriname River and for very reasonable price there are lunch and dinner buffets.
Added bonus is the use of sister hotel Torarica's nice pool (5 minute walk).

I have been staying at Eco-Resort when in Suriname over the last 4 years. The rooms are great, the staff is very friendly and helpful, and the rooms are very clean. Also the area around the hotel is great for bird watching. Additionally Eco-Resort has an arrangement with the more expensive Torarica down the street so that you can use the pool and sauna there free of charge.

Finally Eco-Resort is right nextdoor to STINASU offices where many visitors would be needing to go to plan in-country travel to the many natural sites like Galibi Reserve and Raleigh Vallen.

Eco-Resort has it all and at a great price. Breakfast is included and is basic but substantial and has enough choices to accomodate all diets.

I stayed on several occasions at the Eco Resort in Paramaribo, a place where it is not that easy to find an adequate hotel. I payed around 65 US$ per night, including breakfast buffet.
The hotel is located in the city centre of Paramaribo, right next to the tourist district of the city, where you can find restaurants, snack shops and bars.

The hotel itself is clean and the management is professional. There is an average breakfast buffet, a small bar and also a lunch and dinner menu. The rooms are with Airco and a few US-cable channels, but they lack individual touch.
As a plus of the hotel, guests can also use the facilities of the Trorarica hotel (pool), which belongs to the same group. It is a 5 minutes walk.

Compared with other hotels, I rate the Eco Resort as ok-average.
