“Inexpensive but yet the best hotel guyana has to offer”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2011

Ocean Spray Hotel is amazing. Jovita at the reception desk is a kind warm friendly person who manages to keep her professionalism but yet be friendly at the same time. My maid Indra is the best. She's is beyond clean & tidy. Susie, makes the best coffee. I spent 24 days at this hotel and booked the deluxe room with two beds. The room is spacious, had a fridge, a balcony(which overlooks the atlantic), the stand up shower is also amazing. Every thing about the hotel was great. The security watchman was a bit stuck up & was kinda rude to my driver at times but we just ignored him. There are always people checking in and out of this hotel it's not a place where you will feel alone and isolated, Ocean Spray Hotel is by far the best hotel in Guyana period.

Our stay was only a place for sleeping and taking a shower, found the bath floor very slippery did not have a mat in shower stall, when yo get out of the show no bath mat to stand on, we asked for a bath mat only to be told to use one of our hand towels, asked for sheet to be changed as we noticed blood on one of the sheets when we turned it down to go to bed and was told that there was no one to change it we had to wait until the morning after arguing a young man finaly came to achange all the beds. too much hassel to get little things not worth my time breakfast if you are not a tea or coffee drinker sorry no juice and water was not offered. we got better service and lots of smiles the day before we booked out, what a transformation, sorry I only pay for service and I did not feel as though I was served. Won't be back.

My cousin and I stayed 2 weeks ago and was not happy with this hotel. None of the rooms do not have any windows, so was like a basement. There was 2 bath towels and one face towel, and when I asked for another face towel, they said they cannot supply any more, that is the max, so unhygienic, after some discussion, they did give us another. At breakfast next morning, I do not drink coffee or tea, so drank water, they do not supply juice and friut, they also do not have ice. Two nights before we left, we discovered a blood stain on the sheet, it was visible, who did the room could not have missed it, anyways, they said we had to wait until the morning to change the sheet. After arguing they finally changed the bedding. I was born in Guyana, so knew what to expect, but these items we wanted is considered the bare necessities, not luxury items. The only positive things to say is the hotel is clean, and most of the staff is friendly, however the policies of the hotel needs to to changed if they want to have more business.

A wonderful place to stay. The rooms are clean and although "no frills", very comfortable. It has a great view of the Atlantic and just a few minutes to the main Georgetown area. The staff is very friendly and very willing to answer answer questions, change currency or call a taxi. And Suzie's breakfast in the morning is awesome! Her coffee is the best you will have in Guyana. I saved a lot staying here and was able to get around from here very easily.

wonderful staff, great ocean view, 5-10 min away from all attractions, near seawall and celina resort, dont have an established car service but they can call for one if needed, no room service, they serve breakfast but you're better off going out for it, room floors are dangerous and slippery when wet, hotel is very affordable, aside from lack of a proper restaurant and car service i would use this hotel again. with a few improvements it has the potential to be one of the best in guyana

In Georgetown you cant go too cheap or you may end up staying in the wrong place. This hotel overlooking the Atlantic Ocean is basic, inclusive bathroom, AC, TV, Phone and free Wireless is for 50USD. I met travellers from Israel, Suriname, France and Canada. The sunset is amazing, and you are only 10 minutes drive from downtown GT. The taxi service they use, Kittykat is 300GYD to any city points or 1.50 usd. The rooms are very big, the AC works well and the wifi is excellent. The frontdesk is very helpful.
