“Dirty Bathrooms loud hostel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2012 via mobile

Liberal drug use in the hostel... free breakfast...if the cook shows up, which she didn't. Rooms suck, have skylights to wake you up at 5am, don't expect to sleep with noise, and bathrooms are DIRTY!!! Also looked like a group of 6 adult locals were chilling in the tv room and bar ALL day, and using the bathrooms (dropping deuces)

AVOID. Tons of other hostels around

I only stayed one night in Hostal Fatima, but I found it to be a fine experience. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and spoke great English. The place is really big and drafty, but each bed has thick blankets. The shower was warm, but had no pressure at all. The kitchen is nice. Because its so big and accommodates so many, it did seem like more of a party hostel, but the one night I was there was pretty quiet. The walls and floors are very thin, though, so you can hear everything going on throughout the hostel. Good for the price.

First I have to say that Fatima has a great location in Bogotá. Highly recomended if you like bohemia and relax. It has a nice common area, filled with people from a variety of countries, which makes it a nice place to learn and exchange a lot of experiences, drink some beers and play cards.

You can't rely much on the staff, looks like indifference is common in there. Besides, some of my friends had to look for another place once we were there since there was a confusion about the shared rooms and couldn't get to an arrangement.

Nice decoration and comfortable rooms.

Based on some recommendations for the Fatima Hostel I booked a room at Fatima Suites, where they offer private rooms. Our experience was the worse: in ten years travelling through Latin-America, never stayed in such a soulless, worn down room. I looked like they just occupied the building and simply threw in the beds, without painting etc. Above all, you will sleep on a matress with plastic, as if you are peeing in your sleep. Breakfast is included, but well, what´s to say about that. Just like the room: made withour love and care.

They do charge you as if you´re staying in a nice hotel though... For this price, La Candelaria has better options. Stay away from Fatima Suites!

Stayed in Fatima just 1 night and had my room broken into by other guests and they robbed me or almost everything and smashed up my camera! The hostel staff denied it happened and then blamed me! I know they were complicit in the break in! If you value your safety and possessions DO NOT STAY HERE!

Fatima Hostel isn't everyone's idea of the idea hostel - it can be noisy and attract the wrong kind of backpacker. Nonetheless, if you're looking for somewhere cheap to stay you could do a lot worse. The hostel rooms are clean enough, there's a nice open space to hang out with fellow travellers in and the bar is a good place to start the night.

Not for everyone, but if you're on a budget, comes recommended.
