“Friendly Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2013

It's not the most amazing, classy hostel ever - but it's a reasonably quiet and tidy one - right in the centre of La Candelaria. The staff were tremendously helpful - especially a Colombian woman and a Swiss/German girl - as I had passport/visa problems.

The room and in the inside are nicely decorated and VERY CLEAN. And you feel safe, knowing you are surrounded by a pretty bad neighborhood
It does not have the trashy backpacker style of some places... It is more business like
The bedding is a little bit cheap...but ok
Some doors showed they were forced the entry and one of the windows did not lock (but the bars prevented any entries)
The employees were nice but not ready to do the extra mile when the internet went down.
The neighborhood is very exotic, but dangerous at night.. better take a taxi to go from one block to the other...It is ok during the daytime and you are close to downtown Bogota... The area has a lot of homeless, i have never seen as many homeless in my whole life of traveler (40 countries)... even guatemala city (where i had been) had less poor people.
The price was reasonable $20...

Room Tip: They all seem good

This was my first stop in Bogota and I felt very safe. The rooms, bathrooms and common areas were very clean and comfy. I reserved a private room that listed a double bed in the photos and description so I was surprised that I was placed in a room with bunk beds. However, I had the whole room to myself as promised.

I'm not giving this 5 stars because of two reasons. First, the beds were not very comfortable. After staying at other hostels they seem to be around the average but not great. Second, there were cats making a LOT of noise, maybe at the property next door, alllllllllllll night long. Even earplugs couldn't block all the sound. I ended up moving to a new place because of these two things although I hope that the cat issue was just temporary.

The staff was friendly and helpful and the place was very secure as they only let people in who are actually staying there.

Very clean, pleasant place. Staff was extraordinarily helpful. Location good, not far from historic sites. There's a good vibe with the guests, but it isn't like a backpackers' dorm. Street feels desolate at night, but I had no bad experiences.

Room Tip: The mattresses in some rooms are better than others. For some rooms, you use a bathroom across a sma...

I stayed here for just over a month in June/July 2012 while I studied Spanish at a nearby school. I absolutely loved it! It's clean, comfortable, safe and provides really friendly service. It's not a party hostel, in fact I'm not sure I'd call it a hostel at all as there are only private rooms, no dorm rooms. But if you want a place where you can still get some sleep and also be in a perfect location close to everything - this is it!
A big thanks to Orlando and all the staff for making sure I had a lovely stay. Particular thanks to the lady who works most nights.... it was always a pleasure to come home to a happy, smiling and helpful person :)

Descent hostel im Candelaria district. Beds were clean. It is easy though to miss that place since the sign is not visible enough.

Based on what we saw in the other hostels in the area, it is a cleaner and nicer one but a bit more expensive - we paid 80,000 pesos ($40) for two of us in a room with private bathroom while most others cost about 55,000 pesos ($27.50) for doubles with a private bathroom. The room was very nice and clean but as is probably the case with the rest of the hostels in the area, your room is as quiet as the courtyard it faces with people that occupy that courtyard at the moment. When no one was there, we could not hear a thing in aour room. When others congregated, listened the music and smoked, we "joined" them virtually and without our consent. Still, we would recommend this hostel but keep in mind that you will be provided with an 8:00 am wake up call by the receptionist girl who arrives to work and drives her motorcicle every morning into the courtyard.
