“Comfortable smaller hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2013

The 104 Art Suites is a lovely, comfortable hotel in a safe, attractive, residential neighborhood with views of a park. Although not in the downtown business district, since you are likely to go everywhere by taxi or private car anyway, this hotel's less crowded location is still convenient for a long walk or short taxi ride to many restaurants and shops while providing a more graceful, peaceful setting. It is across the street from a lovely treed park and around the corner from another park, with beautifully landscaped smaller apartment buildings with doormen up and down the surrounding streets....a lovely place to live, even temporarily. A plus is that it is one block away from 15, a main street, but away from the noise. The staff is extremely helpful and the entire property is well kept.

Each apartment is different since they are all designed by particular artists, and they vary in size and view as well. We read the previous trip advisor reviews and requested a light bright room, not for sun time in the room, but because it warmed up the space during the day so that when we returned later the room was sun warmed in a country where there is little heating of buildings. We had a spacious suite with living room, kitchenette, bedroom, and one and a half baths. The artist who designed our particular room was somewhat minimalist and sculptural so the artwork was in the varied shapes of the walls and interesting niches. The room had a flat screen TV, balcony, fireplace and a giant bathtub...all great features.

The breakfast was buffet style but you could additionally order eggs of any style custom made. There were breads, cheese and ham, jelly, fresh fruits, juice and coffee, cereal, yogurt, and usually one hot item which changed daily, such as a chicken breakfast dish, humitas, tortillas, etc.

We stayed for 9 nights and were very comfortable in a home away from home with an extremely comfortable king sized bed with excellent linens. I highly recommend this hotel, especially for longer stays.

Note that it does not have a gym, pool, or outdoor seating area but they can provide gratis passes to a local gym. I would give this a 4.5 star rating but had to pick a 4 instead of 5 due to less faciilties. If you don't need them and want good peaceful comfort without flashy luxury this is your place.

Room Tip: Ask for a bright sunny room so that it will be sun warmed

Superior in many ways and forms. Superior Service , Superior Accomodations , Superior quality of Food . Great coffe at any time from a great brewing machine on the Main Lobby. Superior location ; away from the maddening avenue and in front of a small Park. The ART ;aahhh the Art ! all over to be admired .
At the time ; received outstanding Service from the staff . Worth to mention : Jonathan , Erika , Jefferson , Gerardo , Annah , even the Security staff was always ready to assist you.
Also , worth to mention , the accesibility to transportation in private cars driven by gentleman , like Mr Umana ; for a moderate hourly fee. Thank you all for a Superior Stay . At the time we were in mourning for the lost of My Aunt : my Mom's sister and you all made the days bearable and wonderful. Gracias .

Room Tip: Request a room in front , facing , the Park ; with possible balcony? ;o)

the location is quite good - just walk to the carrera 19 about 200 m and you will find lot´s of restaurants nearby.
taxi and busses are also easily accessible there.
unicentro is the next shopping mall about 10 min away.

the hotel reception was very friendly and professional
design of the hotel might not be everybody´s taste - it is a concrete building - each room has a different design - we slept in the 4th floor which had a good design while the other nights we used a apartment in the 5th floor - didn´t like the design - while the room was much better because you will have more sunshine in the apartment - ask for the one beside the elevator (the windows face the park).
most rooms face the other buildings - need to ask for minimum 4 th floor to have some view and daylight!
Rooms without direct sunlight might get very cold in Bogota!

the aptm. is complete - furnished kitchen (modern) incl. micro wave etc. bathrooms - some with bath tub others with shower (ask what you require before booking), a small chimney in the living room (living room and kitchen is one larger room)
bed rooms are spacious with a large king size bed (very comfortable) and a large flat TV with plenty of channels. there is a second bathroom and a big closet.
the bedrooms have an electric sun blind.

be aware, that all windows are not sound proof - there is some noise from the main road about 100 m away - however it is acceptable for Bogota.

breakfast area is relatively small for a 27 room/apartment hotel - the breakfast is nothing special - you get some eggs to your liking and little cheese and sausage (every day the same), there are two or three kinds of fresh fruits - not all of them taste very sweat.
if you like cereals - better bring your own - they have just two kinds and both are very sweet (with lot´s of sugar).
two fresh fruit juices are available as well.
in our case we had to ask on two occasions for fresh glasses because there where none - same for the fruits.

the service could be more attentive.

check in and check out as well as help one needed by staff was efficient and relatively fast.
staff in general was very friendly.

in our case there was the need to reconfirm the price through check up of hotel web sites bcs. the direct hotel offer was more expensive.
recommend to check prices with booking.com or hotels.com if you want to book through the hotel directly or better do it by one of the web sites bcs. you avoid to struggle over various taxes (they are included when booking over the before mentioned web. sites - seguro hotelero must be included!! it is generally charged from hotels in addition per person and after the room charge!).

kids can play in the park on the other side of the street (50 m away).

i can recommend the hotel, but feel that the prices are slightly on the higher side - 300.000 COP/ day (incl. taxes) - we managed to get it for 240.000 COP.

Room Tip: use 5th floor just aside the elevator for more sunlight and warmer rooms with view to the park.

We stayed at the penthouse for a night and liked it. Quiet and clean rooms with comfortable beds and a great view. The best steakhouse is around the corner. Just be careful when booking: they have a sister hotel about 20 mins away, at the heart of Usaquen. The lonely planet lists an email address for that hotel which apparently links with both places. So reconfirm your booking and make sure you know where exactly it is that you are staying.

I stayed for 2 weeks on business, the staff is really helpful and courteous
the size of the hotel is good only 22 suites
five suites per floor
each suite with a little kitchen, living room and visit bathroom
the main room is nice and well lit, with a nice bath room and walking closet
has a nice neighborhood park just in front
the breakfasts were included, nice fruits , the rest of the food good but not exceptional
Is not so close from the restaurant area, but taxis are really cheap (around 6 US$ to get to Andres DC (nice crazy restaurant in the best restaurant area)
not so nice:
no gym , a little noisy at night

Room Tip: ask for the suites in the back , the ones in the front can be noisy at nigth

This hotel is terrible!! The decoration is horrible! I was so afraid to be in bogota, considered one of the most dangerous cities in the world!! And when I arrive to my room, there was a gun painted in the wall!! Just disgusting!! Also, there was no elevator available and we have to carry our suitcases by ourselves!!. The service was so bad too!. The bedroom was not ready when we arrive, and we were there at 6pm. I definitely will never go back there!!!

I went visiting my family down in Colombia and decided to spend my wedding anniversary at the art suites. I got the romantic/unforgettable package. Although the staff was overall very nice, the service was bad. This stay at the 104 art suites for me was unforgettable but for all the wrong reasons. The front desk manager called me 3 times prior to the arrival at the hotel to ensure the room would be ready (romantic decoration - rose petals- quite nice). But as I arrived at the hotel over 35 minutes later than advised, I had to wait other 30 minutes in the lobby. Courtesy drinks were given to us, which was very nice of them for the wait. However as we entered the room, we had several people knock on our door for many reasons (all of those knocks could've been done in one knock) - champagne, strawberries, ice, cups-. The tub did not work as the light switch was off in the electric room, but it took them 3 calls and 2 hours of wait for maintenance to finally help out. after we finally got it going, the water was very dirty; making us once again call maintenance. They explained to us that they had been doing pipe repairs and that he would re-clean the jacuzzi, however this was not done - :( -.
My husband unfortunatelly did not like any of the dinner choices included in this package; although I offered more money for a different dinner, they refused to do so. After dinner/room service arrived, they forgot our drinks and it took then a whole 20 minutes to bring them up (we had finished our food). This seemed to be a normal for them, as during breakfast the following morning they once again forgot our coffee. All in all, it kept our "romantic night" a busy night opening the door.

Besides the hotel could be kept in a cleaner state, it was dusty and definatelly the price did not meet my minimal 3 star hotel expectation. I would not recommended it to anyone.
