“Great hotel for a low cost”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2011

Hotel Casona del Patio is a nice small hotel very well located. It has recently been renewed, service was great and everything was pretty clean. It exceeded my expectations as I considered it to be very cheap taking into account that Bogota is becoming a very expensive city and when compared with other hotels is a great alternative for those seeking for a well located not so expensive nice hotel. It had everything I needed, it is pretty clean and service was very good. As I said before, it is very well located, is right in the financial sector of the city, close to " la zona G" were you can find the best restaurants in the city.

Room Tip: The room named Palacio de Narino is the best one!

This small hotel is located in a very nice area of town, not that from La Candelaria by taxi and close to very good restaurants. Lively neighborhood. The service is very good, the hotel is small and nice. Breakfast is very good and the cook very nice. Would go back again.

Very disappointed. Hotel came highly recommended in various guide books and some glowing online reviews. In reality, room was incredibly dingy and basic - though very clean. Staff not terribly helpful nor friendly. Food average. Felt like a slightly dressed up youth hostel, though without the bargain prices. We did everything in our power to stay out as late as possible so as to not have to come back to the room. At the very least, do not stay in the Museo del Oro room.

Hotel Casona del Patio was a big disappointment - and as I learned quickly after checking out other hotels in the same area, an incredibly horrible value. I paid 125,000 pesos (one person) per night. The room I was initially given (Gold Museum) was in very poor condition, especially the bathroom, where plaster and paint were peeling off the wall, there was no place to hang my towel, and with no showerhead, water just came out of a pipe. The sink in the bathroom was crudely patched up as well. I was shocked that management didn't maintain this hotel better. I was moved to another room for the second night and this room was in better condition, but still looked like a room in a kind of summer camp...with military style small single beds (same in both rooms in which I stayed). Staff was very friendly and things were basically quite clean, but there was a family with a daughter who had a toy guitar which she played day and night, with a lot of screeching, and management did nothing to quiet things down, which made it very hard to sleep in the early morning. For 125,000 pesos, you'd have to be crazy to stay in this place. There are loads of nearby hotels offering much more for much less. I ended up moving to a hotel in what I consider a far more convenient and interesting area (about a 10 minute walk from the Casona del Patio), very near the Transmilenio bus, and i'm paying 45,000 pesos for a much better bed, better shower, much better breakfast, and very high level of cleanliness and security. The hotel is called Hotel Lord. URL: http://www.hotel-lord.com
I highly recommend it if you're looking for a budget option, as it is very professionally managed and frequented by Colombians - who also told me this is the best value hotel in the area. It also has free WI-FI. There are also several luxury places in the area, starting around 70,000 pesos (the Hotel Lourdes, for example). The Casona del Patio could reasonably charge 50,000 max in my opinion. It is frequented by foreigners who really don't know better.

Not comfortable at all. Lights in my rooms were so dim that it was impossible to read. The TV set is a kitchen-size and so far from the bed, attached to the wall, that it is useless to try to see the news. The shower is broken and the hot water comes out in drops. The room was freezing cold and no heat at all. My room (Candelaria) was big and the bed was good, but the room itself is not comfortable. No electric plugs for the computer near the small table where I wanted to work.... Just avoid it, there are so many other good hotels in Bogota.

This is a great little hotel. it was located in a great part of town; it managed to be nestled between nice houses, giving it a homey feel, and at the same time was a short walk to bars, banks, and a mall. Basically, a pretty happening part of Bototá.

The service was great, and the staff was more than willing to help me with arranging tours, and transportation. They even helped me buy a gift for a friend in Bogotá. Also, breakfast is included, with the guest choosing from one of ten entrees, ranging from Colombian arepas (think pancakes, but more savory than sweet) and passion fruit, to french toast. Juice and hot chocolate included.

The room was cozy and well-cleaned daily. There is a lot a natural lighting, which is always refreshing, and each of the rooms is lightly themed after a different tourist attraction in Bogotá, which makes the place feel a little more personal than a standard high rise hotel (which is what the place seems to be shooting for).

In conclusion, I was very happy with this hotel. I think the relaxed atmosphere allowed me to meet several other travelers staying here, which made for a pleasant experience.

WiFi included, of course.

I stayed in the hotel 1 night. The position was quite ok (...but you need a taxi to go anywhere). The breakfast was nothing special but normal. The room was big but cold and inhospitable. There wasn't privacy, cause the room was around the "patio" and the roof of bathroom was made of such a glass. Suggest this hotel if you stay for 1 night because is not confortable enought to stay more days.
