“Nice hotel, extremely friendly staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2010

I've stayed at other hotels in the area and this is still my favorite. The staff is amazingly friendly and they treat you like family. Two pieces of advice: I've stayed here multiple times and the quality of the rooms varies tremendously. If you think you've been given "junk", ask to change rooms. Also, if you're a light sleeper or like to sleep late, make sure that you ask for a room at the back of the hotel. Bogota drivers LOVE to honk their horns and you will be serenaded starting at 6:00 am with any room that faces the front.

With that all said, it's a nice hotel in a terrific location. Their weekend rates (including breakfast) are definitely worth it.

Second time I have stayed there, excellent service, great location. Area is very safe - can walk town to countless restaurants.
Can grab a taxi for about 4-6 mil pesos ( $2-3) to visit Centro Bogota and the historic sites, museums.

Very good value - breakfast is excellent and even made me a free Black Russian at MGRS reception in evening using Colombian cafe liquer.

Embassy Suites is a great brand with a consistent product no matter where you go. However, this location in Bogota is wonderful - all the comforts that you would expect with a two room suite, complimentary breakfast and more. Additionally, this location has a great fitness center, spa and nice "manager's reception." The service is personal and welcoming - a strong bi-lingual staff. The neighborhood is safe and entertaining.

Rooms are typical Embassy Suites but the indoor garden atrium is airy and relaxing. I loved the hanging water plants. The location is superb, surrounded by restaurants, malls and a short cab ride to the historic Candelaria district. The staff is helpful and corteous. This is my favorite spot in Bogotá.

I'm at the airport returning from a terrific visit to Bogota (and what a great, safe, clean city!), and my 5-day stay at the Bogota Embassy Suites made it even better - US hotels and restaurants could have a lot to learn about service from the staff here.

As others have mentioned, the staff is extremely competent and friendly without being overbearing. LOVED the breakfast buffet (especially the choice of four different juices every morning) as well as the Happy Hours at night. Business center is well equipped but they'll also provide a code for free WiFi in your room as well (the speed for mine was pretty fast). The fitness center and sauna/turkish bath is way better than almost every hotels in the US, though it is a bit small (especially the cardio part - the weight area was absolutely sufficient). Very conveniently located, and taxis are plentiful -- and CHEAP!

Plenty of great restaurants right across the street (especially Harry's) but the food at the hotel was excellent as well -- I got room service one night and an appetizer, entree, sides, and two glasses of chardonnay came in under $25 (with taxes included). Try the hot tomato/mozzarella salad -- one of my favorite appetizers ever!

The noise can get bad -- but I found it funny that I kept hearing dogs barking, thinking it was just loud, large dogs in the neighborhood. I was on the top floor and it turns out they keep two mean-looking mastiffs up on the roof!

Love this city ... and especially love this hotel! By the way, use their car service to and from the airport. It's $15 each way, and it it a brand new Volvo sedan with a terrific driver.

Considering all the bad press that Bogota gets ("You're going where?"), this is a pretty decent place to stay for a business trip. It comes with all the perks that you would expect with a stay at an Embassy Suites in the States, i.e., nice breakfast buffet with eggs to order, but an even better Manager's Reception. Decent beer on tap ("Club Colombia"), tasty snacks, and a really nice senorita bar tender and a waiter named Jorge who is super friendly/polite; they don't expect tips, but are very grateful when you give them a "propina."
There also is live music during happy hour, but the downside is that the musicians/crooners keep playing well after happy hour is over (7:30 PM); one night they kept at it until 10:00 PM. And this brings me to my main complaint about this hotel; built along the lines of most Embassy Suites, there is a large atrium that runs all the way up to the top floor (in this case that would be eight). With all the hard surfaces, the music/crooning from the bar resonates all the way up and through the thin wooden doors to your room. If you retreat to your bedroom and close the door, though, that seems to attenuate the noise. The other contributing noise factor is the single-paned windows; due to Bogota's mild climate, builders don't worry about insulated windows; hence, when the garbage truck rolls up outside at 4:30 in the morning, you get a free wake-up call.
Across the street and around the corner are wall-to-wall restaurants, literally. The hotel sits right between two apartment buildings, so this is definitely what urban planners would call a "mixed-use neighborhood." Lots of variety and prices are generally reasonable for a nice neighborhood like this.
Suites are fairly decent, but they come in a variety of sizes; ask for a corner suite as they seem a little larger. Rooms have laptop-size safes and other standard amenities, but don't expect high-speed internet access; wi-fi is complimentary and they do have loaner modems if you're not set up for wi-fi, but download speeds for both are way slooow (band-width problem?). Most of us would click on a link, then go brush your teeth or something, and then come back and pick up where you left off.
Despite the noise problems and slow internet, this is still a nice place to stay. This was my first time in Bogota, so I have nothing to compare it to, but overall it was a good experience.

I have enjoyed staying in this hotel very much. Staff was very nice. Hotel quiet and peaceful. Breakfast was wonderful. Chef-lady brought omelet herself to our table and it was very delicious. Very nice of manager of the hotel to have happy hour at the bar. Good free drinks and snack. Again very professional and polite staff.

We checked in at 6:00 am and check out 6:00 pm. Hotel reception even didn't raise eyebrows for early checking in and late check out and didn't ask for compensation or extra-payment. While staying in the hotel we used a car service with driver who was also very polite and accompanied us everywhere and hold our umbrellas while we were taking pictures. To our good surprise car service was at very reasonable price and very good service indeed. Hotel provide free internet service which is also nice of them.

I am very impressed with overall staying in this hotel. This is a place where you want to come again and again.
