I stayed in Casa Rustica Bogota for one week in January 2012. It felt like home!! !
First of all, the owner, Peter, was there at the airport to meet me. He knows Bogota in and out and is a great source of information.
The hotel ( or rather, Bed and Breakfast) is only about a 25 minute drive from the airport. Located two blocks from the Financial District on Avenida de Chile and a 10 minute cab ride to the Gold Museum and Casa Botero, it is surrounded by great restaurants and shopping.
The house has been restored using all recycled and repurposed materials, and conforms to a green philosophy. Sure, it looks rustic, but when you consider that it was all built from materials recovered from demolitions the place is quite remarkable. The intent was to restore the house as close to its original condition as possible- house was built in the 50's.
The price includes a good breakfast of coffee or tea, fruit juice , eggs and breads; and an afternoon snack. The service is friendly and the place is immaculately clean.
Certainly there are some issues that still need to be addressed. The gardens ( front and interior) need some work, the kitchen could be modernized. However, these are small issues that do not interfere with the overall quality of the stay. Very pleasant indeed . I can highly recommend Casa Rustica Bogota for anyone looking for a low-key, inexpensive, comfortable stay while in Bogota.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- Casa Rústica Bogotá is a restored house located in the historical district of Quinta Camacho. The financial district on Avenida Chile and the Zona G(Gourmet) are both only two blocks away. The house has been furnished to imitate the local lifestyle of the ´50s and ´60s. To a great extent the house has been restored with reclaimed materials in keeping with the spirit of ecofriendly behavior. There is also a rainwater filtration system for watering plants and for washing the floors as well as an herb garden that uses recycled objects as flower pots, among other ecofriendly features. We are not only ecofriendly but also pet friendly and are therefore also willing to lodge small pets prior fulfillment of certain sanitary requirements. We consider that one of the best compliments we can receive from our guests is that returning to Casa Rústica Bogotá after a trip elsewhere or after having found permanent lodging in the city, is like coming back home. This, since we consider that Casa Rústica Bogotá is like a home far away from home. ... more less
