when we reached at this hotel mansion ,, the outside of the so called hotel looked like a regular house with a small regular wooden door in a outside neighborhood of Bogota far from everything . it was gated with grill all over and from the front part of the so called hotel .
there was no sign on the wall or door that this was a hotel : like Hotel la mansion " , it only said with very small letters next to the door: la mansion . i thought i reached particular house of someone i don't know and i told the taxi driver that he probable was mistaken , and that this could not be the hotel i booked . so we went inside and ask if this was the hotel i booking.com and i was surprised to hear yes , this i s the hotel la mansion . i told them i was not planing to stay there any more since this was not what we expected to be or even saw onthe pictures of the booing site .they told me i have to stay or i will lose my money .the so called lobby was just like the sitting room of a poor to a middle class owner decorated with old sabby, cheap ,wear out furniture .They showed me 2 rooms and believe me it did not recognize none of these rooms on the nice pictures on the boong site showing nice cozy bedrooms and bathrooms . the furniture and bathrooms were old and one of the rooms had a really bad smell , only the restaurant looked nice and a small patio , but this is a house of a family trying to make a living with a hotel of 4 stars but totally off for 3 or 4 stars maybe just one . we decided not to stay and i lost my money since the police of this hotel is that when you book and do not stay , you lose not only one night but all of the nights you booking , and so it happpened .but i rather lose than stay somewhere and feel like i am no where in a strange new country and in a old bad smelling room . after me and my daughter left , we end up going around in a taxi looking for another hotel before taking any and i got one very nice comfortable aparthotel 122 plaza hotel for a little bit more but new , comfortable with flat sreen , kitchenette ,modern , and very centrally located ,we walked to restaurants and shopping mall , but this time i did not booked my hotel through booking .com because i did not like the fact that i lost $400.00 for such a bad choice due to untrue pictures of this so called hotel la mansion on this booking .com . i went i saw personally for myself to see what i was getting, for a lillte bit more was true

First: our entrance is as shown in pictures. Even this site has the photo of our main entrance, several photos of our rooms (9 of our 22 rooms have photos on the site) and public areas too. We are not trying to hide anything or produce mistakes or misperceptions on customers. The perception of a “regular house with a small regular wooden door in an outside neighborhood of Bogotá far from everything” is completely subjective. This is not the typical hotel building and our regular guests know and recognize that as one of our charms and strengths. We assume that customers take their decisions well informed and after a serious search about the product including comparisons with others. Our location is well illustrated in all our sites maps, including Booking.com´s. We understand that for visitors is difficult to choose the right hotel near sites they are planning to visit in an unknown city, but this error was not induced by us. In the other hand, even we are located on an exclusive very safe and calm neighborhood, measures to ensure the safety of our guests are taken without shame, that explain the grid and the electric fence, that is very common in this city although we considered a very architectural and well designed solution for this security matters. About the lack of big signs at the entrance is prohibited by the city law to have signs with colors and high visual impact on noncommercial areas. Second: You said that this is a “so called hotel, pretending to be a 3 or 4 stars hotel but having maybe just one”. On this topic let us tell you that in Colombia there is a technical standard for classifying hotels and we are Certified as a 3 star hotel in NTS-006 (Technical Standard for the Lodging Industry) by SGS a well know international certification agency. We have been certified with 97% of compliance with the requirements even in infrastructure and also in service. If your perception is that the Certification is not adjusted, we respectfully suggest to contact directly authorities that regulate hotels in Colombia. Third: You said that you lost your money because of the policy of this hotel. Let us remind you that among several choices on our site you chose the lowest rate a “non refundable” one with very clear conditions for cancellations, no shows or changes. We offer a wide range of rates with different conditions and services as many hotels or airlines do. In any case concerned with your situation we tried to locate you by mail with no response and even calling to your home in Curazao. The General Manager spoke to your husband but he didn´t tell us where could we find you during your stay in Bogotá (know we know that you were not far from here only 2 km away from us at another hotel that appear not to be “far from anything”). Concluding this point of view for us was impossible to locate you to offer an alternative. We also wanted to invite you to test our service having a night with us, thinking about it as a better way to qualify a service instead of judging the whole experience by a first sight perception. Fourth: Finally, you said “…but this is a house of a family trying to make a living…”. About this topic let us tell you that in fact our family have been in this business for the last 35 years and have been running this property for the last 18 years. This is not our family house, we bought this property thinking of running a hotel in it, we have been doing so with our best efforts and we are very proud of our work and of our product. Finally: We really hope to have you here again, staying with us and having a good Colombian coffee cup. We are sure that you are going to love it and maybe after really testing our service your perception of this hotel will change.
