“Good hostal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2014

Good hostal in a good area. Noise from the street is a little loud though. Pretty good breakfast and fantastic coffee. Clean. My only
Complaint is the guy with glasses at reception is a little weird. Beer is so so price but there is a place next door that has cheaper beer

I stayed here long term, mostly in the apartments owned by the Hostal. I frequently ate breakfast at and visited the hostal, staff and guests. The neighborhood is safe and trendy (Chapinero), near Septima the main avenue in the city, grocery, gym and neighborhood markets all around. Everything within walking distance in the city. Super friendly staff, clean and inviting environment at the hostal. Bogota is high altitude but not too cold, showers are hot, beds comfortable, beer cold. Great dogs, two labs, one grew up there, always friendly and ready to greet me. Family restaraunt on the corner (San Parillon), cheap lunches....Colombian food (very good), great hamburgers in the evenings. Best place to chill in Bogota in route to the endless adventure of Colombia.

The showers were definitely hot, which is necessary as Bogota is pretty chilly. We paid $70 for a double bed private room with shared bath, which I think is pretty expensive. Breakfast was cereal. The location is in a nice part of Chapinero. Close to the Transmilenio bus station and nice restaurants. Overall, I'm not sure I would stay here again. If the room were $40, then I think it would be worth it.

The staff was unpolite (even rude) and unfriendly The staff didn't clean our room. In the night there was a lot of noise. It's priced like a Hotel but it's in fact a not so great hostal. The price was almost the double then what was indicated in the lonely planet.
Advise: take an other hotel/hostal

Room Tip: choose an other hotel/hostal

My friend and I stayed in La Pinta a couple of weeks ago for 3 nights. We had a great time, the hostel is clean and comfortable and I would recommend. The location is lovely and safe. Best of all were the staff who were really kind and helpful particularly Sebastian who looked after us when arrived at 11pm at night after a 17 hour flight ( thanks for the pizza and beer), and Jonathan for a brilliant day out to the Salt Cathedral ( and the great Spanish practice!)
