“Good hostel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2014

We only stayed here for one night on our first night in Colombia, so all we really needed was a clean quiet room to sleep in. Unfortunately we were in the worst room for that, right off the courtyard where people were up drinking and talking loudly all night long. However, the room was clean, the staff (and the resident dogs) very friendly and there was a bar for meeting people and getting advice. Basic breakfast (cereal, toast and hot drinks) is provided for free. It is in a nice area, where you can walk a short distance to some good bars and restaurants.

I stayed here in October and again in Novemebr for a couple of nights. I was actually planning to stay only 1 night in Bogota the first time around but i needed some extra things so i ended up staying longer. The hostel gets booked up pretty fast so it is recommend to reserve a bed.

You might have a walk a little to get to where you want. There is a super market close by though. But the bus stop is a little distance away. It is nothing if you are a backpacker though. I am used to walking so it was not problem for me.

The breakfast was probable the best i had in a hostel whilst travelling around Colombia. You get fruit, a selection of cereal, tea/coffee, toast & jams etc.. Most hostels skimp out of the fruit.

Everything was clean and orderly and the staff were extremely friendly. I was very grateful they understood and spoke English easily. I would stay there again.

Room Tip: I stayed in an 8 bed door, They give you a key for your own lockers and a key to the dorm room.

La Pinta is great - to start, the building is lovely with lots of wood and big open spaces. They have a bar with a friendly awesome barman (Giancarlo!! mil abrazos!) mixing great cocktails from local fruits...they also have beer for like 2500 pesos...about $1.50. Yes, please.

They have great spaces to hang out also - around the bar there are barstools and couches, and in the next room there is a dining room and a big kitchen with a ton of space to cook. They have drinks and snacks available at all hours, as well as hot food like lasagna if you ask the front desk. The back garden/patio is a haven to chill during the day, or socialize at night, with hammocks, tables and chairs, a BBQ pit, and two big sweet labradors roaming around.

Amenities-wise, the beds are super comfy and the dorms range in size and price so you can pick how many people you want to be with. The showers are nice and clean with hot water, there is laundry service available if you pay, there are lockers for your valuables...if you are into tours they have a lot available, as well as bicycles for rent if you want to bike down 7th street on a Sunday when it is closed to cars. I did a very nice hiking tour with Andres to Quebrada la Vieja, as well as a bike tour down 7th street, and both were very relaxed and fun with a very small group.

The neighborhood is very central and safe, you are right in the zona G which has great bars and restaurants, and right on 7th street so it is easy to catch a bus or taxi to La Candelaria, or the Zona Rosa. The hostel door is unmarked but most cab drivers know where it is (if not, it is on the right, next to a little store, ON calle 65 just before the carrera 5 intersects (you will be going uphill from carrera 7 towards the mountains). Look for the weird little mushroom shaped tree outside, come in through the gate and ring the doorbell, they will buzz you in.

What can I say, I love this place. The staff are all awesome, I was helped a lot by Julia and Andres, who speak great English, and everyone else I have run into there, including the owners, drivers, etc. has been quite friendly. Great people stay there, too, it is always a fun place to be on a weekend night. And if they are full, dont worry - the sister hostel La Niña is two blocks away.

Great location. You feel safe. Overall a great experience. Many restaurants and shopping close by. Also close to Transmilenio station (63). It was my first time in Bogoá as well staying in a hostel and really enjoyed my stay. Definitely, will stay here again in a heartbeat. Andrés, Carolina & Sebastián, thanks for all your help.

Tucked away on residential street - make sure you have the address as not easy to spot!

Helpful and friendly staff - run by travellers. Lovely friendly dogs live in the garden. Nice bar area and outdoor games. We enjoyed a large room on the top floor with ensuite bathroom.

Help yourself breakfast of cereal and juice and snacks/drinks available all day at a good price.

I stayed at La Pinta for 9 nights, because I was doing a Spanish course in Bogota and it was the perfect place. It's really safe and I got to know sooo many nice people! The beds are comfortable and the staff is so easy going and fun! It's cozy and they sell cheap beers! If you want information about anything they are there for you. Every morning there is a breakfast, fresh fruits, cereal and bread, more than enough and from 7am till 11am! So I really recommend this place! :-D I especially want to thank Julia, she really is the Sunshine of La Pinta! Besos

This is place is exactly what it advertises! It is very basic but very very clean. Communal bathrooms are spotless and renovated, staff is friendly, rooms are very plain but we don't care for that. The beds were comfy and clean sheets and towels are provided. The breakfast was okay, nothing fancy: toast and cereal. You have the option of ordering something off their menu at an okay price (again, cheap for Canada but I look at prices based on where I am and what they are worth there). Overall, I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a no frills, comfortable and clean place to stay. The area is much safer than downtown making it worth taking the short taxi ride home from sketchy historical area when it gets dark.

Room Tip: we stayed in 217, we liked it!
