“Good food but portion size has gone down a lot meaning worse value”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2014

We ate here every time we came back to la paz and always enjoyed it. Good babaganoush, lentils and rice, aubergine dishes etc. The first few times we went you could order each dish for around 10 bolis and thus have a really nice meal for 2 with 4-5 dishes shared for a reasonable price. Unfortunately the last time we went back the portion sizes for the individual plates had been drastically reduced (less than half). This meant a good meal went from costing 20-25 per head to more like 40-45 - i.e. from a cheap eat to an expensive meal. Still good food though, if now possible a little overpriced! Also really annoying having the tv on the whole time though this is pretty normal for this part of the world I guess

“Hidden gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2014

Hidden up a dark staircase, but the food and the service are fantastic. Wrap up warm though if you go at night in winter, there was no heating.

“great food, but the ambience...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2014

Me and my husband were looking for a place to have dinner and we decided to go there. The entrance is extremely ugly and the restaurant itself seemed a bit dirty. I was about to give up eating there, but as we were quite tired we just ordered.

The food was surprisingly good and is quite cheap, so don't be afraid, But as I read here in another review, the walls at least need some painting.

“Great food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2014 via mobile

As the other reviews have stated, the entrance and decor is lacking somewhat. However the food isn't. What the place is missing in ambience is more than made up for by the fantastic middle eastern grub. Worth a visit if you are not fussy about the building.

“Unexpectedly good!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2014 via mobile

We have visited La Paz a few times and eaten here every time. We recommended it to our friends and they loved it too! As the other reviews say the entrance makes you wonder where you're headed and you are pretty much eating dinner in someone's front room.. But it's a really very good dinner! We had a mezzeh type meal and everything was cooked fresh and tasted great! The warm flatbread was so good, the Baba Ghannouj was mmmm and the meat was great. Everything was lovely. The great bloke owns it and can't do enough for you. They do a pretty decent Arabic coffee too. Really worth a visit!
