“i wouldnt recommend this hostel!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2013

we were charged 120 bob for a double with shared bathroom, there was no hot water so showering was a painful experience as it gets pretty cold at night in la paz. and the bathroom was very dirty, not a nice experience. our room had only a thin netting infront of the window, not good for keeping out the lights and there is a folk show above so expect noise from 8-12. not good if catching a earlier flight. dont bother with included breakfast unless you want free coffee. the staff were telling me that i hadnt paid for our last night when it was time for us to check out to go to the aiport- this was at 5.30am. i had paid but this was annoying to then ring the taxi driver again as we arrived at the airport telling me i hadnt paid. my answer hadnt changed when they spoke to me in the hotel. i had paid. so make sure you get a reciept if you pay before checking out. the good thing is guess is ther location

Duration: 2 nights
Good: clean, safe, free wifi, fixed PC, free information, breakfast included (good but simple, with free coffee or tea), not noisy. The best is the location, right in the middle of Sagarnaga St. and few min for San Francisco church. breakfast time is good and reasonable. You can leave your bag in deposit.

Bad: staff are good but you have to take the first step and ask, no English speaking, higher rooms don't get good wifi, breakfast doesn't have choices.

Around: there are plenty of restaurants and coffee shops around the hostel and local restaurant are also on walking distance. There is also several agencies for tours right in the street. Laundry service in the same building, fast and cheap.

Room Tip: Rooms on higher levels don't receive wifi very well.

I stayed here only 1 night because I pretty much hated it. First of all I thought it was way overpriced, my room just felt dirty, you know what I mean? I think it was one of the nicer ones as well as it was on a high floor with a view. It was very shabby and mildewed. And as other commenters have mentioned, the place clearly welcomes smokers. Basically I can deal with run of the mill hostel stuff: sometimes unclean bedsheets, weird smells from the bathroom, noise and iffy hot water. But I expect to be paying a low price for stuff like that. Plus this place just gave me the creeps. The staff was also pretty rude. There are many other places, for a more reasonable price, in the same location.

We were on a tight budget (hard to get by on in La Paz) so from what we could find this was the best offer for us. 120bs per night for a double room. Breakfast was included (bread, jam, fruit salad, juic, tea/coffee) and there was cable tv in the rooms. Added bonus. Also location was pretty good to access the city. BUT Thefloors are LETHAL upstairs and alongthe stairs. WATCH YOUR STEP!! The hot showers are sporadic, the smell from the bathrooms is generally bad and they don´t seem the most hygenic. The band kicksoff downstairs about 9pm and doesn´t let up til about 11pm. The receptionist with the khaki jacket is a bit of a bear. He told us there was free internet, the WORST connection and then after 1hour he charged us 6bs for it.One of the cheapest La Paz has on offer but not quite worth it.

we spend here two nights in February, localization is very good - close to city centre, it safety surrounding (for Bolivian standards), we had room on the top, on the corner (both view for the city). Rooms are poor equipped but clean and with hot water.
On the ground level is money exchange and laundry (7 bolivianos for 1 kg). It is impossible to pay by credit cards, as often in Peru and Bolivia (or sometimes with up to 14% charge for this).

Had some reservations about this place maybe being a bit noisy, but it proved to be great. The only exception being a gig next door of local folk music most nights. Halfway up Sagarnaga Street in the heart of the toiurist area, Witches Market etc. Ten minutes walk to the Prado in the city centre and similar distance to many places of interest. Very helpful, fuss free staff, clean, functional rooms, hot water tends to be somewhat warm, as in most budget places in Bolivia. Luggage storeage. They were happy to store back pack for several days whilst I did some side trips. Secure premises. Is on 3 or more floors and they even have a lift [elevator]!! Ther are a couple of internet terminals in lobby, but I found it cheaper and with higher speed internet virtually next door. Inclusive breakfast very basic, but typical of most places. Very well priced.

Room Tip: Some rooms have better city views than others.

We stayed here in August 2010 for 4 nights, in a double room with a private bathroom. The reception staff were friendly and helpful - we didnt like the first room we were shown and they moved us with no fuss at all.
The room was by no means luxurious, but it was clean and the bed was comfy. There was 24hr hot water and the shower was one of the better ones we found in Bolivia!
Breakfast was included in the price, although it was nothing to write home about! (Glass of juice, tea, bread & butter)
Our only real complaint was that somewhere in the building is a bar/restaurant & on several nights a local band would strike up - the noise from the drums was entertaining at first but got a little tiresome (and loud!)! They didnt go on past about 11pm though, so no great shakes.
The hostal is in a great location (in the middle of "Gringo alley") close to lots of restaurants & the witches market and for the price (140 bolivianos/£14 a night) you could do much worse!
