“Nice place to be. Not out of the ordinary”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2012

I stayed for two days. The room was not that good, a little small to put six beds. The nice thing is that the bathroom was inside of it. Folks the front desk were helpful, but not that friendly. It might because of period I went, which was not summer, when Punta rocks, but there was not a lot of interaction among the house guests. I would comeback because of the price.

Room Tip: Stay at the floor beds. The ceiling is not tall. There is not a lot of space if you stay on the uppe...

Professionally run and clean. Very good advert for the chain, I will definitely be looking to stay at their other branches when I am in Colombia. Large open common area with a pool table, two computers, fire place. Perhaps a little short on couches when it gets busier, but this was a quite time of year and there were not nearly as many people present as what it can accommodate. The kitchen is perhaps the least well kept space, right at the back of the property. It seemed that few people used it, but it looked solid enough. Rooms were very clean, as was the en suite bathroom/shower. Beds were of decent quality and more importantly clean. You are given white linen on entry. They do cram the beds in a little, 3 bunk beds in a room that is probably more suited to only 2 sets of bunks. The beds have large storage facilities under them (I could fit all of my extensive bicycle packs in there, something I have not been able to do everywhere!) - but do bring you own lock. If you dont have one, there is a conveniently located lock shop right next door. WiFi is decent, had no trouble and pretty quick upload speed even. Breakfast was served on time (highly unusual in most of the hostels I have stayed in) and consisted of typical cereals, bread and yogurt even. There is also a bar serving large litre bottles of beer, and although there are signs everywhere prohibiting outside liquor - the staff turn a blind eye for spirits/wine that you cannot get from them, which seems fair enough.

Staff were helpful, some of the female staff might try smiling occasionally - but they all were on hand should you need anything or want to know something. All spoke English very well too.

My only quibble - and this is perhaps relevant to many of the hostels (But in particular to this facility as it is also a member of Hostelling International) I have stayed at, are the itinerant workers who always seem to be lodged here (Does HI permit this in any case?). It was much more obvious at this hostel, as they were all dressed in construction boiler suits and congregated early to go to work. Hostels have to keep going somehow during the off-season, but these are not tourists and thus do not mix/blend with the other tourists. Some were of questionable character and others seemed openly hostile (the fact that I ignored what they were saying does not mean I could not understand it, despite what they may have thought about the Ingles).

Room Tip: All the rooms looked pretty much the same, so no greater benefit to either or. Get yourself a seat c...

The hostel is located three blocks from the bust station. It is a solid, well kept, two-storey building on a corner lot with plenty of available parking. Small market is almost next door. Beaches and the two main streets with bars and restaurants are within a short walk distance.
I arrived in a low season. My six bed dorm on the second floor was smallish for the quantity of beds. It had a nice, clean and bright en-suite bathroom, large window and A/C unit. The bed had good mattress and was comfortable. Linen was in good condition, clean and white. Each bunk-bed had two good size lockers on the bottom.
The large common area on the main floor had reception, a couple of computers, pool table, large TV, nice fireplace, plenty of large windows, and plenty of seating for eating and just relaxing. The kitchen was well equipped. It was smallish but I had no problem with it. The entire hostel was clean and well kept.
Wi-Fi was strong and reliable. Breakfast was nice and certainly better than the “typical hostel breakfast”. Both were included in the room rate. During my stay the hostel was quiet.
Staff was hospitable, helpful and pleasant.
I enjoyed my stay in this hostel and can recommend it.

This was a fine hostel to stay in, and a good location near the bus station and beaches.
Our room was nice and big and had a decent bathroom.
The staff were practically non-existent, on the first night the internet stopped working and noone knew who the staff was to get it working again.
The kitchen is really badly designed, so there was no room to prepare food (just 1 table) and everyone seemed to get in everyone's way. The gas oven was very big, but hard to light and a bit dangerous!

This people has a complete lack of respect for others rest. Every day the music was very loud until....6AM! Sure....at 7AM they start making noise again because of the breakfast so, you cannot have any kind of sleep in this place. Oh...if you think the music is outloud because the great party spirit at the hostel, forget it, there are 3 or 4 drunk guys chatting to each other. There are another hostels in Punta, at least try them on.

The place was very well run, clean and breakfast was supplied. The rooms were clean, a little damaged (but you expect that in hostels), beds were comfy and the staff on check in were a breeze to deal with. About a five minute walk from the bus station and the beach on both sides, it has a great location and a supermarket is literally 25m down the road so cooking your own meals in the kitchen, which does need a little maintenance, is easy.
