“Very good hotel restaurant.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013

Have eaten breakfast, lunch and dinner here so far, no negative experiences. Wonderful eggs. Good service, good atmosphere. Clearly a high end operation. Charming hotel, too

“Yes, yes, yes, THE BEST WAFFLES EVER”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2013

I agree with everybody, this place serves the best waffles I have ever tasted. Dulce de leche is my topping.
The iron waffle maker is from the 40's which adds to the whole ceremony of having tea at L'Auberge.
A classic never goes out of style.

“Dulce de Leche Waffles in Gorgeous Gardens”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2013

The main issue about L'Auberge tea room are the waffles, the beautiful gardens, its roses and the cozy atmosphere. You can choose a table in the tea room itself or under the porch, facing the garden,
They offer different options of home made waffles, prepared in a huge fireplace, in front of you, inside the tea room,
The waffles can have dressings such as dulce de leche (Uruguay's specialty), cream, jelly...
You can drink tea, juices, hot chocolate or maybe even a glass of wine.
It is a nice thing to do with friends or family, but the prices range from US$20 a waffle.

“The joys of childhood for ever!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

Have been going to the restaurant of the hotel l' Auberge in Punta del Este since I was 4 years old (that is quite a while ago!).

The best time to go there is by 6 or 7 in the afternoon for tea, hot chocolate/coffee and waffles!
They make the best waffles in South America. The atmosphere is great! Service is immaculate. Many years back, when there was no water distribution to the houses in Punta, people would drive to the Auberge to get water. That is why it is still known in Punta as “Torre de agua” (Water tower).

Time has changed the world, but the Auberge has remained true to its values, to its service, to its history. It is not your regular trip to the restaurant for tea, it is a time travel. It is going back to one’s childhood and becoming 5 again!

The hot chocolate is amazing and so are the waffles. If you like sweet stuff, I recommend the “dulce de leche”. If you are not mad for sweet stuff, you should try the waffle with melted cheese.

Truly a must do in Punta.

One minor point…good things are hardly ever free. This restaurant is on the expensive side. But hey.. What is money for?

“why driving away if your hotel's kitchen is so fine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2012

almost home-cooked meals, with a friendly and quiet service, in a wonderful setting, overlooking a magnificent garden and pool.
The menu is short, so may be you will like to change after a couple of days.
