A recent trip to Abudhabi became interesting and memorable with a lunch at the newly opened Samrat- Vegetarian restaurant.
The vegetarian tag didn't cause much of a worry as we wanted to eat something lite!
The place is well lit and the walls adorned with famous Bollywood dialogues recreated in style, very unique indeed!
We were served with desi mojitos in glass tumblers, very tasty and cool, i asked for another one and so did everyone with us.
While browsing thru the menu we found almost all the desirable vegetarian delicacies of India, north to south, east to west featured in it.
Finally we settled for the Special Thali of the day, which came about 10 minutes later, lo and behold...what a spread..aromatic & tempting array of bowls with dry & gravy dishes, sweet, savoury & pickled ones! Hot breads in a basket containing yellow missi roti, white kulchas & naans apart from the usual brown roties. Our table was a riot of colours, all natural of course..very Bollywood like spread!
We enjoyed every morsel of our thali with breads and rice and finally had the sweet treat- moongdal halwa.
We didn't stop at that, went on to try the Falooda..which was slightly heavy but then we asked for it! Very tasty indeed, wish there was more vermicelli in it...but no complaints.
We were uni-vocal in praising the staff about the food & service, clearly the best Indian restaurant in Abudhabi serving delicious pure vegetarian food in a cheerful ambiance.
I recommend this place as a must try!!
