“good location and spacious room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2012

Positives:
Rooms are very spacious with lots of bathroom space as well.
Staff are very friendly and helpful
Centrally located in town.
Close to al Wahda mall and close to the Corniche area.

Could do better:
Lobby area and reception area are very small.
Not enough selection for English tv channels. Only two English news channels: CNN & CCTV. Movie channels only 3 in english

We didn't plan for the trip and we booked in a hurry. There were a smell of food and cooking, i think the AC is connected to the restaurant or kitchen. It was too noisy, we couldn't sleep.

Excellent value for a hotel a stones throw from the corniche (although not actually on the corniche, although to walk to the seafront would take less than 5 minutes). New, clean and fresh - the quality of the room fittings are excellent and a very pleasant room to spend time in.
Only had one night here, but the rooftop pool is great fun, and well shaded, which helps under the brutal sun, Gym is well equipped, and Lebanese restaurant will serve you poolside which makes a lovely place for dinner (expensive though - meal cost more than the basic room charge).
Front desk staff very professional (a touch stiff, and therefore easy to misinterpret, but were very helpful). Free and good wifi available in the room,
In summary, if you need a short stay in downtown Abu Dhabi, this hotel offers the very best value I have seen. Not for a longer family stay where the lack of facilities would count against it, but as a business hotel or short stay it is highly recommended.

We spent a week in this property for leisure (maybe our biggest mistake right there) The hotel inside is beautiful, clean and modern. The rooms are large and the beds are very comfortable. The bathroom is also lovely with all the new mod cons. The restaurant and door staff were very nice. The only thing letting this hotel down is the front desk staff who are just down right rude and unhelpful. After enquiringly about a city map at the front desk on my way out, I was told to go back to my room to retrieve it, after enquiringly about booking a tour, I was told there was a phone in my room. When asking about what recommendations of things to do around the city, I was greeted with a blank stare and a "what is it you want to do?". Even when approaching the desk, instead of being greeted with a hello or even a smile, your greeted with the same stern "Yes???" like your being a major inconvenience. Working in the hotel industry myself and currently a travel agent, the standard procedure is the receptionist normally opens a map and circles the attractions and if your lucky, maybe even some good local restaurants, instead we found ourselves asking locals on the street for some directions. We finally found the mall where the information desk was more help. Being a frequent independent traveler and at the end of a 3 month trip through Europe, I don't require much help and often figure things out on my own, I just couldn't believe how little the front desk were willing to help. I will advise anyone reading this as well as my own clients, this hotel is fine if your a business traveler and only require a taxi, for those on holidays, visiting first time to Abu Dhabi or flying solo - keep searching. It doesn't sound like a big deal but rude front desk staff can really put a damper on your holiday, especially when the two of you are reduced to 'drawing the short straw' if there is something you need to ask them.

I loved staying at The Royal Hotel, they made us feel welcome from we came in the door.

Loved the rooms, they are spacious and the colors har beautiful. Love the bathroom, with an option of both a tub and a shower, separately. And the line that you can pull out over the tub, to dry your wet bathing suits where really great. The only minus was the pool, it was too cold for both my daughter and me. We would have appreciated it if it was a bit warmer. The pool area is very nice, the tables and the sunbeds are fantastic. Tv screens on each side of the pool, if you want to watch tv. And the changing rooms, with a sauna and showers. The fitness area looked nice also, I did not try it but the equipment looked great. Love the decore in the elevators.

The bed is very good, the mattress was very good, and also the pillows.

The hotel is close to the Corniche, also a big plus if you want to go to the beach.

The staff made us feel welcome, and made sure that we had a great time. They also asked if we had remembered everything (passports, flight ticket) , when we checked out.

First time in Abu Dhabi...and what a special city: scenic, modern and squeeky clean! The Corniche area (beach area) is spectacular and begs you for a swim, a sun tan or a long walk. Visit as soon as possible.
Royal Hotel is a brand new hotel and is for sure a sparkling star shining brightly in Abu Dhabi.
Very large and luxurious rooms are waiting for you. The big bed is one of the best that I've ever experienced in all my travels. We also loved the modern carpet in our room.
The serivice was tip top and we can also recommend the beautiful swimming pool area.
If I'm forced to critize: the food prizes are perhaps a little bit steep and there is still a lot of building going on in the area. Hopefully it will soon be something of the past. We will go back!
