“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2014 via mobile

Another big, imposing hotel but huge, comfortable rooms. Staff are always extremely helpful and attentive.

One of the few hotels you can walk to somewhere from. the Zouk is just a 5 minute walk.

A favorite.

We stayed here and celebrated New Year 2014 and couldn't have chosen a better hotel in a better location! The climate in Abu Dhabi was just perfect and the hotel's private beach comes in to it's own provided you get the art of saving a lounger correct! But that's the same in most places and it does work when mastered. The hotel itself was perfect with the staff very friendly and attentive. We stayed in a "Gold" room which had everything req'd and included free Wifi. Half Board was also ideal and the choice of restaurants within the hotel catered for everything we needed from Marco Pierre White Michelin Star standards to a great quality buffet of food from around the World. Will return here and would recommend to anyone who wants a high standard of hotel and some sun to brighten up Dec and Jan!

We have spend 6 nights ( including New year Eve celebration) at this great hotel. After spending last 10 New year Eves in Dubai, I decided to try something new, and was not disappointed. The best thing that Fairmont is not forcing you to buy this dinner ( its a MUST in Dubai ) , it's up o you. They offer you few decently priced options and we chosen the buffer. Absolutely great food and atmosphere!
I liked the hotel very much, but there are few things that I would like to mention -
The hotel was full on the 31 of December, and it was not possible to get a sun bed at the beach, the same stry on the 1st . No problems on other days.
Room design - this is a clear case when designer thought took advantage over comfort! The toilet and shower area are not separated from the main area by regular doors, just glass doors. Very very uncomfortable, you can hear everything, if someone uses toilet at night that means "wake up everybody" I have asked fo another room, hoping that may be other rooms have different lay outs, but the answer was that only suits have normal toilets and showers.

Room Tip: If you want to have free wifi, please register for Fairmont loyalty programm, there use it s 100 dhs...

Me and my partner traveled to Abu Dhabi to get some winter sun over the festive period. We arrived early on Christmas morning and we were promptly given our room which was of an excellent size with modern furniture and fittings. The bathroom facilities were brilliant. The hotel on the whole was fabulous and exactly what you would expect from a 5* establishment. It's a little out of the City but only a 20 minute drive from most places and the taxies are very reasonable.

The breakfast was a bit over run but the staff opened up Frankie's restaurant to cope with the demand for spaces, as we all seemed to arrive at the same time. The variety of food on offer was tremendous.

The poolside facilities were impressive with a large heated swimming pool and a good size jacuzzi, however, these were sometimes over run with children. Their is also a good sized pool bar. The beach is man made with ample space and sun beds looking towards the Grand Mosque. The staff were phenomenal from the Operations Manager Mr Biji to the actual poolside staff (Nithan In particular) who were more than happy to help with our towels, sun beds and orders. It did tend to get busy but we weren't kept waiting to long for our orders.

For the New Year celebrations we decided to stay at the hotel and booked at the very last minute, and still thanks to Louie we were given a seated table, even though they were fully booked. We had the BBQ platter but as my wife is vegetarian she was given a vegetarian substitute which we only told them about on the night.

Overall I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel as our 10 night stay was faultless.

Of course, this hotel adheres to the well-known Fairmont standard, staff is friendly (absolutely superb: Concierge Deryl) and food is excellent. Besides, the hotel has a wonderful pool area and a private beach with a stunning view on the Sheik Zayed Grand Mosque. We shall definitely come back to this charming hotel!

This is our third stay at Fairmont Bab Al Bahr and the second stay on the Gold Floor and I'm glad to say that its staff and the level of service they provide still remain impeccable.
We arrived in the morning via an airport taxi, the concierge unloaded our luggage, gave me a ticket and my wife and I headed straight for reception on the Gold Floor. We were greeted by a cheery Paul, who checked us in and informed us that we had been given a suite on the 8th floor over looking the creek with fabulous views of the Grand Mosque, the suite was an upgrade via the Fairmont Presidents rewards program but it was given to us gratis for seven nights instead of the usual five and this was very much appreciated. We then went for breakfast and were at the pool within the hour.
The room was fantastic, it was spotless as normal, it had two toilets a dressing room and a large lounge and two large screen tv's. There was also a Bose sound system with an iPod dock and a Nepresso coffee maker with complimentary pods. The room was always well kept by the cleaning staff and nothing was a problem for them. The rooms in the Bab Al Bahr are modern and tastefully decorated much in line with the rest of the hotel.
Staying on the Gold floor gives you access to an exclusive dining area, lounge and bar, it also gives you complimentary soft drinks all day and alcohol between 18:30 and 21:00hrs. Snacks and sandwiches are served between 14:00 and 16:00 and light food from 18:00 to 20:00.
The staff on the Gold Floor are well trained, always attentive and anticipating your needs but unobtrusive at the same time, Fairmont should be complimented on how well they train them.
The pool, beach and hotel grounds are well kept with plenty of sun beds available and lots of staff on hand to cater to your every need. You can now walk from the Fairmont to the Shangri La along a lovely paved walkway and there is a Souk with a good selection of shops along the way. Beware of the Money Exchange in the Souk if you are a Scotsman as they WILL NOT TAKE Scottish notes, we ran up against this problem in a few exchanges in Abu Dhabi. This is a problem that needs sorted by the higher powers in banking in the UAE and should not be tolerated by the Scots.
We ate twice in Frankie's and twice at the Pool Bar, Frankie's food is always excellent if expensive and the Pool Bar offers a nice selection of food for a slightly more reasonable price. Bearing in mind that if you eat in any hotel in the UAE it's going to be expensive and the Bab Al Bahr is on a par with other hotels of this quality.
All in all we had a great stay and the Gold Floor is good value for money, but we have stayed in other Premium Floors in the UAE and there are better drink and food packages available that last all day with a much larger selection. They are more expensive, but not much more, it's maybe time Fairmont looked into this. That said, from a staff and service point of view Fairmont Gold is one of the best, and the Bab Al Bahr does it with lots of polish.
If we are naming names, then Monowar, Paul and Umme made our stay even more enjoyable and Fairmont should cherish them, but that takes nothing away from the rest of the team.
Another great holiday and looking forward to returning ASAP.

I stayed at this property on business during a corporate meeting week. The rooms on the eighth floor are wonderful. I had a city view but wished I had a creek view. The grounds are fantastic, I would say that if you stay in the gold rooms on floor eight and nine the elevators are a fair walk from the lobby but I cannot fault the service. I think this is a great hotel for couples or for conferences. The only thing I would say, although as a frequent visitor to the ME the breakfast isn't my favourite - turkey bacon and veal sausage are no substitute for pork ! Thought the many pastries and fruit platters do not disappoint.

Room Tip: Ask for a creek or mosque view - gold rooms are worth the upgrade
