We visited the Mosque on a short trip to Abu Dhabi. It has amazing architecture and is beautiful to see. Some tips for first-time visitors - make sure you plan your visit so it doesn't coincide with the mosque's prayer times - you will not be allowed inside the mosque until after the prayers are done (they seemed to last about 1/2 hour and occur six times a day, I believe). You are allowed to take photos, which I appreciated. You will need to be modestly clothed (no shorts for male or female, no bare shoulders, and females need to have their heads covered). My husband and I even got reprimanded for holding hands(!) There are separate male and female ablution areas, so visiting those is gender-specific. Allow yourself at least an hour to really appreciate it. Overall, we thought it was well worth the visit.
