“Great experience and shopping”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

This was a great experience to wrap up the end of my trip to Syria. I ended up getting all my presents for family there. Great energy and vibe, VERY highly recommended! I visted easlier than Dec 2012, but that was the earliest date this site would let me put in. I went about a year or so before the crists broke out there. Very sad.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2013

a huge bazaar where the are alleys sellin gold, spices, clothing, silks, and gifts from your trip. Excellent value, it is an experience to remember. The smell of hand made soaps and frankinsence and perfumes abound. Make sure you take plenty of syrian pounds, although euros and dollars accepted.

“Sad that not more people can visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2013

The souk is one of the oldest part of the Damascus city. It is beautifully kept bustles with public and things are pretty cheap even by the rates at which they are placed. On the end of the souk is the famous Omayyad Mosque the size of a football field. The sherbet wallahs similar to what we have in Istanbul offering refreshing drinks at a pittance. I thoroughly enjoyed the walk and then on to the mosque which further amazed me of its enormity. It is really sad that not many people come to Syria these days and enjoy such lovely places.

“beautiful, full of history and alot of good purchases”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2013

really cheap no matter how much they try and put a price on tourists, if you visit damascus you got to visit this shopping place as its the oldest shopping place in syria and you must try the drinks that people wearing costumes are selling called 'tamir hindi'. A nice traditional place to visit for the locals and tourists will find alot to buy.
