We stayed here for 3 nights, while seeing Damascus and the surrounding area. When we arrived we found it necessary to bargain quite hard to pay the price we later saw advertised on their website. Our first impressions were great, we loved the 2 level room and the whole decor in the courtyard and the general feel of the place. Also, the member of staff that we dealt with most of the time was exceptionally friendly and helpful. However, the service we received from the manager was really bad. There were constant attempts to make us pay far more than was necessary for day trips that he proposed. We never accepted these and instead asked the other staff about the best ways to see the surrounding area. The first morning during the breakfast (syrian style) there was fruit. The second morning there wasn't, so we asked for some. The manager came over and told us that fruit would cost 200 syrian pounds more. We didn't accept this. The 3rd morning, since the hotel was full, the breakfast didn't included brioche, which we had the other 2 days. We complained about this and he explained that some people are 120 dollars to receive a full breakfast and we were paying just (!) 80. So, it's your choice now, you can have a full breakfast, with fruit and brioche, just for 40 dollars more!
On the final morning, we also found a cockroach in the room.
Overall, it's a very nice hotel, but I would strongly recommend to change the management.
