Where do I start with this one? Having previously stayed at the Ritz Carlton Doha, who also operate the Sharq we were expecting the same level of service....and for the price are entitled to that level of service.....how wrong we were.
The grounds, beach , pool area and villas are beautiful, very clean , excellent quality and have a great feel...the supermodel looks.....
The supermodel attitude.....The service is terrible, no welcome drink at check in, bad attitude from staff, can not have a wine at happy hour on the terrace if you have children, on the wine issue the cheapest glass at the buffett Restaraunt is 75 Qr, come on, that's 20 AUD for some rubbish wine, won't catch me drinking it. Poolside lunch cheapest wine is 65QR.
The buffett restaraunt is not up to standard of others in Doha. Charging me 40 QR at breakfast for a coffee...everywhere else we stay in Doha, cafe latte..no problem and no charge.
Guests smoking in the pool and the jacuzzi, had to get out as someone rudely jumps in with his cigarette whilst I and my four year old were relaxing. The toilet and change rooms area for the pool was filthy, refused to use it and went back to our room.
The gym...well it's very well equipped , but no staff, had to chase staff to get earphones, which did not work anyway, they are all very old and need replacing, had to chase staff to find out where the water was etc...
Decided to go out for dinner as our experience was not up to expectation, so I go to the lobby and request a taxi, no go, can utilise their own private taxis, but no I want a Karwa taxi, being a local I know that it is only going to cost ten riyal to get to my location, whereas the hotel taxi will be at least five times that. Well the taxis drive past up on the roadway I am told, so I and my four year old have to walk up onto the road and hail a taxi...
Now the big one...as many trippers point out......the noise it is terrible the planes fly over during take off and landing every couple of minutes....it is terrible..kept me up one night ...just terrible at night and really ruins any relaxing by the pool or beach.
The only positive is that management listened to our concerns on check out and genuinely were worried about our experience and made every attempt to rectify the wrongs. Thankyou.
However I just could not recommend this to anyone, yes looks great, but fails to deliver.
