Have been trying out these small mom-and-pop restaurants in Doha for 5 years now. This one was by far the worst. The little individual rooms each containing a table and 4 chairs were congested and cave-like. The décor is a hodge-podge of Thai-Japanese-Chinese paintings and wall murals that left your senses overwhelmed. What won't overwhelm you in the bland, tasteless food - and it was not cheap either. We had 2 types of noodles and mixed stir fried vegetables with prawns and some kind of ginger soup. I was assured that there would be lots of vegetables, which turned out to be fried cabbage, a few green onions and a few carrots. When I complained (and I had to yell and knock on the wall to get attention, I think they had forgotten about us, though the restaurant was not busy at all), the waiter took away my plate and returned it 3 minutes later with STILL FROZEN broccoli and a few CANNED mushrooms!!! The noodles were mushy and tasteless. The bill was 88 riyals or around $ USD25. I can think of about 50 other places to get a much better meal in Doha. The best thing about Far East is the cool exterior and neon seafood shaped lights!
