“Peace and tranquility in downtown Doha”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2013

Stayed at the Amari on 2 occasions whilst travelling on business.
The staff are attentive, helpful and friendly (especially the reception and breakfast staff) making checking in and checkout effortless and hassle free.
Rooms are very modern, clean and spacious. Free wifi throughout the hotel, excellent buffet breakfast with a plethora of choice, thai chef has an array of authentic thai dishes in the evening and don't miss the spa to recapture your karma after a busy day.
All in all, cant fault anything about the hotel.
To the manager - keep up the good work!

Room Tip: Stayed in 601 which was facing the courtyard so reduced any traffic noise.

It was a trip for 4 days and purely work, breakfast was great, healthy, good choice, servers are very attentive, they are floating around with a trolley of healthy boosters- dont forget to try berry berry mix, banana yoghurt booster! Good one !!!

Lounge staff very attentive and more than friendly what you generally expect in a city hotel.

Oh Maccaroons and Eclairs are killing ! Happened to meet their Pastry Chef - was glad to hear that their pastries made keeping sugar in mind for health reasons... liked that...

Breeze spa is worth mentioning and TURKISH HAMMAM (never thought of) and service by the masseur by Amir was amazing. had a fantastic time after my hard working day and a bad necl pain.

We had our company event on our last day and Sundeep and Hicham and his fantastic team were top of everything.

If Doha next time then definitley it will be Amari !!!

cheers

Great new Hotel with nice large rooms, specious bathrooms and fantastic beds. ( I slept like a baby in those beds) Service was very attentive and professional always with a smile. The Breakfast buffet has plenty of items of high quality, great selections of teas, variety of homemade breads, fresh fruits etc..
The Pool and SPA are on the roof top with a great view towards the new Doha and Souk. If you have time take a treatment in the Breeze SPA it is worthwhile. I felt very relaxed afterwards.
The Hotel is easy to reach from the airport, which makes it very comfortable if your there for a short business meeting.
Please Amari Team keep the good job up.

From all the congestion of the traffic I reached Amari, experienced a kind gesture from the staff and that's was all the good side.

Now I shall begin ...

- The room I booked is for 3 person, right? "Sorry for the inconvenience Sir! we will arrange the extra bed"

- You arranged for the extra bed but where is the pillow? "Oh I forgot, Sorry for the Inconvenience Sir!

- The wet towels weren't even replaced after room make up? "Sorry for the inconvenience Sir! I will send someone to replace the towels

- Hello! We are three guests in this room, then why aren't there enough toiletries after making my room? "Sorry for the inconvenience Sir! I will ask someone to bring you the bath gel and shampoo"

- There is a van parked behind my car and the driver is sleeping inside. "Sorry for the inconvenience Sir! I will ask him to move the van " (Amari Security)

- I cannot sleep, it is so damn noisy because of construction. "Sorry for the inconvenience Sir!"

- Why I cannot use the swimming pool? "The swimming pool and lounge is reserved for a party, Sorry for the inconvenience Sir!"

- *Yawn* I did not put up a sign for making my room its just 8:15 am? Oh! Sorry for the inconvenience Sir!"

**Bottom line, this isn't what you expect and certainly not upto standard. Its just good for the location with an average class.**

Dear abdulnafees,

Thank you for your valuable comments on your last stay at Amari Doha.

Kindly accept our sincere apologies for not giving you the high standard of hospitality which is the general norm of our hotel. The problems that you mentioned have been brought to the attention to our heads of department. While the lack of service you experienced is unusual and not the standard of our hotel, there is no excuse for a lackadaisical attitude on the part of any of our team members. We apologize for the inconvenience and annoyance those incidents caused.

We hope that you will continue your business association with Amari.

Kind regards,

We spent a tourist weekend in Doha and chose the Amari based on Trip Advisor ratings. The hotel is located in a busy area of Doha within walking distance to the Souk and the Museum of Islamic Art. Our room was very nice - and we loved the rain shower in the bathroom. At night, lighting on the hotel is colorful and impressive! The buffet breakfast included a wide assortment and was plentiful. The only negative we found was the lack of accessibility for wheelchairs.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2013

I stayed at Amari Doha at the end of March 2013 for 2 nights and was looking forward to my stay at this newly opened hotel, based on the good reviews. I probably had too high expectations as I left the hotel with very mixed feelings. There was some good but a lot a bad as well...

First the good things: the location is convenient, close to airport and walking distance to Souq Waqif. The buffet breakfast (varied, tasty and nicely presented) and the attentive breakfast F&B were really good. The filipino hostess (I can't remember her name) was particularly caring and friendly. The nice bathroom and the oversized rain shower were also much appreciated.

Now the bad thing: We checked-in early and were dropped right in front of the hotel. Although no guest were around no bellboy came to assist with our luggage. We could see him chatting inside the hotel with other staff member. When we walked up the stairs and entered the lobby he suddenly realized he could do something better. Check-in process was just ok. Not much enthusiasm from the front desk agent. You have to sit for your check-in as staff are working in the seated position, which could be nice but you feel really uncomfortable as the chairs are much too low.

Check-out process was extremely bad. Front desk staff are acting as operators as well so they keep answering phones while dealing with you. As they also seem to be understaffed there are constant interruptions. Wrong item were posted on our bill. It took ages for the agent to solve this issue. At this time the front desk was really busy and phones kept ringing. This is when someone came out from the back office. It was some manger dressed in a strict black suit. His behavior was the most shocking of all. He came out yawning, looked around in a disobliging manner, did not acknowledge any guest and went back. I could not believe my eyes!

We booked, through the hotel, transfer from and to the airport as well as an 8-hour as directed car to get us around Doha. The hotel is working with a company called Fox. The cars were clean but Fox must have the most unfriendly and uncaring drivers of all. We had 3 different drivers and all were absolutely unfriendly. The driver we had for the day was the worst. He never said "Hello" or "Goodbye" and everytime we were asking for our next stop he just sighed. We really had the feeling to bother him. He even disappeared at one point. We had had to wait 40 minutes next to the empty car although we had previously agreed on a time we would need to leave. We were totally disappointed with this service. Although it is not directly the hotel fault they should really check better on the quality of third party services they offer to their guests.

I stayed in a twin bedded room. The room decoration was nice but the two single beds were really tiny, the comfy mattress made it for the size though. The big problem with that room was that it was facing the front of the hotel where a massive generator is located. The noise coming from this generator was insane! If you are a light sleeper there are no chance you would fall asleep. It seems to be something temporary though and the hotel staff are totally aware of this problem. When I called about it at 1am I could not finish my sentence that the person on the phone was offering me a room move. Well, maybe not the best option at 1am!!! If you have quieter room try not to allocate the noisiest one in the first place!!!

All in all except for the location, the competitive prices and the lovely F&B team this hotel has a very long way to go. I would give it the benefit of the doubt as it is a new hotel. Staff attitude at the front desk should definitely be their number one priority in terms of improvement!

This was my second stay at Amari group of hotels ( first being in thailand) and this stay was ultimately average. Lets talk about the hotel now, first the pros. The staff is friendly and ready to help we were offered early checkin and welcomed by thai drinks. The private basement parking and swimming pool/gym area is very clean and properly managed. The rooms are spacious as well. The cons now, the room service is not upto a 4 star mark, the room service staff will arrange your room and keep the USED towels. Toiletatries will not be kept again after service until you personally call for it. The area is surrounded by buildings under construction, even thou we were at 7th floor, we were still disturbed by noises. The room service person will knock it door at 8:30am??. This is not a 4 star standard service especially with my last experience, i wont be staying under Amari again.

Thank you for posting your valuable comments on your stay with Amari Doha.

We are terribly sorry to hear that your expectation didn’t meet since you have stayed with one of our sister properties in Thailand. Our aim to keep the Asian hospitality touch in all properties across the globe with same level of standard.

We have investigated on the highlighted part of your comments on keeping same towels and would like to inform you that Amari Hotels have an Environmental best practices and procedure on changing all linen in rooms. If guest hangs used towel, the housekeeping attendant may not change, but the towels will be definitely replaced at the same time if guest placed on the floor.

Pertaining to the toiletries, the standard with Amari Hotels is, when guest used more than half of the amenities, we place additional items beside the used amenity.

We really appreciate the comments on your stay with us and do hope that you will extend another chance to retain your expectation.
