“Amazing hotel, excellent service, bad wi-fi”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2012

The Ritz-Carlton in Doha is the best hotel we have ever stayed at! The room was big and clean, the view was great, the bathroom very fresh and big. The only thing that was disappointing is that the wi-fi in the room went down every other minute or so. We notified the hotel several times, but they never fixed it.

The pool area is fantastic; beautiful surroundings and great service. The breakfast buffet is the best ever. A special thanks to Ghen in the reception for excellent service!

The hotel is a bit far from the town, but taxis are so cheap it really did´t matter. The Admiral Club was a great, unexpensive place to eat – don't miss the happy hour! ;)

Room Tip: We chose the cheapest room; Deluxe, and asked for a room on the higher floors. Ended up at 15th, wit...

Comfy, clean and smart hotel, about 15 mins out of city centre. Nice pool area and good breakfast. Very short drive to The pearl development.

We spent five nights in two rooms here in December. The rooms are excellent, well appointed and very comfortable. The meals and room service which we used were also excellent. My only complaint would be the front desk and their lack of organisation. We had repeated confusion about first checking in, then extending our stay, then the settling of the bill (which was a corporate booking but we did give a credit card also, so there was no risk to the hotel at any time!). Also we went to the restaurant in advance to book a specific table for a meal, only to arrive and discover that it had been given to other guests despite the clear Reserved sign. Our rooms were not serviced on two days as the front office kept thinking we had checked out. In a hotel of this level we should not have had such problems.

Room Tip: Ask for the side overlooking the Pearl and the sea. Great views.

I stayed for 2 nights; simply it’s the Ritz Carlton.
The giant lobby with several choices of restaurants will give you the feeling of luxury as usual.
Good services, roomy rooms with great view of the Bay and great welcoming staff.
Regarding the location, its good near the business bay, Lulua island and the exhibition center. But letter bit far of the city center and malls.
The only main thing that few may consider it as uncomfortable is the high level of security at the entrance. It will be annoying if you are that kind of person how leave the hotel more than once a day.

I went to Doha to attend a conference and accomodation had been assured by the organizers at Ritz-Carlton Hotel. I loved the huge variety and very good quality food at Lagoon Restaurant. It's almost impossible to exhaust all the options, even if you stay for a couple of weeks. You even find a club within the hotel where you can buy alcoholic beverages, the Havana Club.
The room was clean, bed was very comfortable, nothing to complain about. It was a bit too much of luxury for me, especially when seeing the huge contrast between the immigrant workers on the construction fields, the conditions in which they are transported to the construction fields...

Unfortunately I did not have time to try the outdoor swimming pool but looked really tantalizing and was also very clean.

Two things annoyed me a lot: every time you get into the elevator you need to use your card to select the floor your room is on, and only that floor is available to you. My friends stood on floor nr. 8, I stood on floor nr. 5, and every time we wanted to just drop by for a visit, we had to first meet in the lounge only to go up again. Second, the view from the room was to a construction field, where labour did not stop even for the night. I woke up several times during the night because of the noise.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that has a view to the sea not to the construction field.

If you are looking for a place to have an amazing brunch, then Ritz Carlton has got it! Out of all the brunches I've had in Qatar so far, to me brunch at Ritz @ The Lagoon was it! Amazing food, with a very wide variety, luxurious place, price not spicy at all, with a live band....what more could one ask for! The deserts were amazing!!! So many types that you just couldn't decide which one is the most amazing one! My friends and I had a great there, the staff was very very nice with us, especially Alex, the Macedonian waiter.
It's definitely a place to go with friends on a Friday afternoon. Don't miss this opportunity, it's well worth it!

You will almost certainly be visiting Doha for business and this is a reasonable base. A lot of people use the atrium area lounge and the bar and restaurants near by for business meetings. The rooms are large and pleasant enough with the usual facilities (good, quiet AC and a very comfortable bed) but not more. Bathroom also adequate rather than a pleasure. You don't come here for the view - it's like being in an airport lounge on the moon - but that's Doha.

Minor irritations: constantly having to log into the hotel wifi - which should be free to all guests in a 5 star hotel; my desk light broke the first day and was never fixed; the lift card system is hopeless and left some people going up and down like yoyos!

There were always a great many staff on hand and they were efficient and friendly but I didn't feel anyone really cared: nobody in this hotel feels passionately that they want it to be the best - good enough is good enough for them. For these reasons I only give it 3 stars.

However the pool was a delight - 25m, spotlessly clean, with a couple of lanes for length swimming. Plus a nice outdoor pool with interlinked areas for kids to enjoy. The gym was also large and pleasant and well looked-after and the spa area seemed very good though I didn't have any treatments. This area I would give the 5 star rating.

Location is good for the Pearl area and the Cultural Village but a long haul into Doha central and the Corniche. On Friday afternoon the local youth roared up and down the nearby canal on their jetskis - a peculiarly unpleasant noise, audible even on the 7th floor through double glazed windows.
