We thought this boutique hotel was so good to stay at during a stopover between Melbourne and Europe that we booked it again for a stopover on the return trip. It is located in one corner of the Souq Waqif, the beautifully preserved and restored old covered souk that now boasts many modern cafes and restaurants as well as the traditional shops of all kinds. The hotel is new and modern in every respect and is not really boutique in the sense of being small. The lobby is large and the bedrooms and bathrooms are of an ample size. If anything, the air-conditioning is too effective! Breakfast is excellent. A real plus for us was the 15m roof-top pool. Being in the souk, alcohol is not served for which you take a taxi up the Corniche to one of the international hotels in the new city. On the other hand the magnificent I M Pei designed Museum of Islamic Art is within walking distance.
