“Truly a Royalty Treatment for Everyone”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2012

This is one of the finest Indian restaurant in the midst of heritage in Doha. Food is great and the ambiance and drinks represent the true tradition of Indian culture and hospitality. While I am not an Indian, their Chef can suggest which ones are good and spice can be adjusted to one's liking.

“Good but can get pricey”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2012

Classic and classy Indian food on in the Souk (Souq) Waqif. Very nice place on the fancy side, very good service, huge menu - all that was very good to excellent. However, we all assumed that when we ordered our meal that it came with all the fixin's - rice etc. Not so much. I paid 60QR (about $18) for #45 which was basically a lamb kabab marinated in youghurt and spices. It was served sizzling hot on cast iron pallette over a bed of schredded cabbage. It was quite good, but that was it - 6 cubes of Lamb and cabbage as a garnish. We would have walked out hungery if we hadn't ordered some garlic rice and a bread basket of naan for the table. With those sides plus drinks (tea, water) and tip my bill at the end of the night was closer to 100QR ($40ish) and all I'd really eaten was 6 cubes of lamb, scoop of rice and a slice of naan. I've eaten lots of good Indian food at equally nice resaturants and come away much more satisfied for the same of less money.

“Very good Indian food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2012

Unlike the other Indian restaurants; Royal Tandoor offers great true Indian flavors.
The menu has more than 100 items, the chicken tandoori and prawn biryani were great. The service also was very good.

“Great place to try something new”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 8, 2012

I'm terrible when it comes to going to an Indian Restaurant, nearly always ordering the same thing. Our first visit to Royal Tandoor was during Ramadan and they had an excellent Iftar menu which meant that all of us had a huge range of foods to eat and share. I tried lots of new dishes and the waiters were all really helpful in terms of helping me understand what was what.

We've been back since, for a regular meal and the food was just as good. The service there is excellent too; they treat customers like they are all regular customers, even if it's your first time and they are always on hand to answer questions or fetch something you need without being 'ever-present'.

It's likely you've had better Indian food somewhere, and the fact that they don't serve alcohol might put you off, but overall this is a great restaurant in a lovely location (nothing like letting your food go down whilst you wander around the souq)
