Bentley's Grill in the Ramada is one of those out-of-the way places I wouldn't have found but for a colleague. (It's in the newer building in the Ramada complex, not the main building where the more established restaurants are located.) It's well worth the trip, though--this is one of the very best meals we've had in our three years in Doha.
My wife and I both got the USDA Choice filet mignon because it was the most reasonable portion size, and both steaks were perfectly cooked to order, expertly trimmed, as tender as you'd expect a filet to be, and quite flavorful. The seasonal veggies were also flawless, steamed with just a bit of crunch and a touch of butter. Our 11-year-old daughter, who's a notoriously picky and light eater, devoured her massive chicken filet and also liked her pasta and veggies; the lobster tail that came with the chicken was the best lobster I've had that wasn't fresh. And note that while they don't publicize the fact that they offer wines by the glass, the house Chianti is reasonable (by Doha standards) at QR 40 for 125 mL and was excellent.
The service is by far the best we've had in Doha. The staff managed to be attentive without being overbearing, and while they were efficient they still set a leisurely pace to the meal so that we never felt either rushed or like we were waiting a long time. By way of example, I mentioned to the maitre d' that my daughter really enjoyed the one piece of cheese bread that was in the bread basket and asked if it was possible to get another piece; instead of saying "finished" as most restaurant staff in Doha would do, he had the cook make some fresh cheese bread for us and brought three rolls. We also appreciated the atmosphere: large, comfortable high-back leather chairs, dark paneling, and a prominent bar cart that make you feel like you're in Washington or New York instead of Doha.
The meal also included little surprises that are typical in high-end restaurants but rare in Doha: an amuse-bouche while we were waiting for our meal, and then a small cup of frozen berries coated in hot white chocolate and whiskey sauce after we had eaten.
We spent QR 600 on the meal excluding wine, which is a bit expensive considering we didn't have appetizers or dessert, but the food and service were both so outstanding that we will definitely go back again.
