“Highlight of our visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2013

We're not really museum people, but we could have spent hours in here. The exhibits are fascinating, and the museum building is amazing in and of itself.

“Very good collection”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2013

Entrance is free. We went on a Saturday and opening hours was at noon.

Location of the museum itself is fantastic - built on the sea. You can enjoy the view while sipping your coffee at the ground floor.

Artifacts are mostly from Egypt, IR Iran and bits from Syria and other parts of the Gulf / African region. Must say that it is extremely well maintained. Lots of tiles (with islamic art design), carpets, pages from the holy book, Quran, jewelry, potteries. Lightings and the interior of the museum really highlight the beauty of the pieces...

The gift shop is also very good - you will find many interesting pieces of handicraft, incorporating Islamic art designs, to buy as gifts.

If you go around very quickly, you will take about 2 hours but for those who enjoy taking their time, easily 3-4 hours.

“Worth a visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2013

Although museums aren't for everybody I really do think this is worth a visit. I've been twice now, when friends and family have visited Qatar. We haven't walked round the whole thing and been in every room either time as some of the items can become a bit 'samey' but it's worth the trip certainly even if just for some fab shots of West Bay from the outside platform.
