“Beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2012

The Doha Islamic Art museum is a must visit. At least two hours necessary for a complete tour - make it three if you want to really appreciate all the exhibits. It provides a broad overview of Islamic art over the centuries, and provides historic insights into its interactions with European and Asian cultures. Many of the items on exhibition are exquisite and very well presented. Entry is free of charge except for the temporary exhibitions, and I was able to take photos of the place.

“Not to be missed!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2012

This is a fantastic museum — as beautiful inside as the art objects themselves. Designed by IM Pei and opened in 2008, this museum is clearly a jewel in Doha's crown and best of all, it's free. Stop for a coffee and a treat (the salted caramel was delicious) either before or after). I believe it closes around lunchtime most days and reopens at 2 pm. Check times with your hotel or call if it's a hike from where you're staying.

“Lovely architecture, some interesting artifacts, free entry”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2012

I enjoyed my visit to this Museum. The entry was free, the architecture inside and out was superb and there were many interesting artifacts on display from various parts of the Muslim world over the past 1000-odd years. The only downside is that while each individual artifact is well documented and beautifully presented, I could not get a sense for the big picture or any underlying thread tying the various artifacts together. Still, worth spending a half-day in Doha to check this out.

“Fantastic Architecture”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2012

This by fair has to be the most interesting buildings inside and out in all of Doha. Although the exhibits are lacking from time to time, there is also a small cafe, movie theatre and park with good views of downtown more then enough for the whole family to enjoy. The park is often very lively in late afternoon and onward.
