“Great background for a good photograph”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2012

A view of the sea from deep inside the desert. Pretty interesting spot. We took our trip with Qatar International Adventures. They were quite good . The driver who picked us up from home and gave us a thrilling ride on the sand dunes, took us to Khor al udeid , a perfect spot for a good photograph. Beyond the sea , the dunes belong to Saudi Arabia. Maybe if it was sunset at the time , the view would have been even better , but that would in turn mean lesser time at the campsite. Their camp at the end of the trip was at a beachside but it was not near the inland sea as I had earlier imagined . Nevertheless it was a great place to relax.

“All you can see is sand”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2012

The dunes are great. And the rides are better. We went down a cliff screaming out hearts out. Not to worry, its safe thanks to the experience driver from Qatar International Adventure. The best experience is when we slide down the 100ft cliff on our bare feet. The climbing up drains your energy :-(.

“Inland Sea, worth seeing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2012

A trip to Qatar isn't complete without a visit to the inland sea. Lying about 100km south of Doha, the last 30km of the trip are off road, across the sand dunes. Only go with experienced off-road drivers or you could end up stuck, lost or both. Both on the way and once you get there the scenery is stunning. A number of companies organise trips in 4x4 including Regency Travel who seem to be amongst the best and offer either half or full day trips combined with stop-overs and food at a traditional desert camp although all of the hotels can organise trips. Well worth the trip.

“doha to saudi arabia - experience cherished”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2012

we also saw camps and tents and the driver also took us to their camp place and offered water and drinks that was required by then.

while returning back the driver drove us for long on the sands and finally brought us close to sea and told "close by from here it is saudi arabia"......

yes, the whole trip was very refreshing and enriching. if there is an opportunity please dont miss.

“Nice views, shame about the rubbish”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2012

I have reviewed this separately from the Arabian Adventures tour we did to get here, because I am reviewing the Inland sea, not the dune bashing / camel rides etc we did as part of the tour. The sea itself is, well, a sea, with sand. Its OK, but looks much like most other seas. It is calm so from that point of view safe to swim.

But what really annoyed me are the tyre tracks everywhere, and I mean everywhere, from undisciplined offroad driving, and the rubbish!!!!

Why is it so difficult for people to take their drinks bottles home with them, and why oh why do smokers think it is OK to leave their stubs everywhere? Come on, people! All of this crap washes out to sea and ends up killing turtles and other sea life, just because we cannot be bothered to clean up after ourselves.
